"The menu is mostly omnivore, but the helpful servers will set you up with a vegan meal--using tofu, tempeh or plant-based chicken, combined with any of their salads or pasta dishes. Cheryl's offers a good vegan chili, which I was invited to try before ordering. This is an attractive, casual place to eat solo, with friends and family, including children."

"Came here for brunch with the husband 's side of the family... this place was lively! Classic American fair breakfast with some twists. LOGISTICS Highly recommend making reservations if you can for weekend brunch, as it was super busy when we came. There was a line and even with a reservation we still had to wait 10 15 min for our table to get ready. The main dining area is quite homey with a definite diner feel... however, we were seated in what I understand as the overflow room. There was another dining area separate from the main area (the staff led us through stairs). It was definitely quieter (which was a bonus) and there were still windows so it didn 't feel too isolated. Despite being away from the main dining room service was still prompt on getting our orders, water refills, etc. As it 's located in the middle of Downtown Portland, you 'll need to find street parking or go to a nearby garage. FOOD Beignets: These were airy and delicious! I loved that these were complimentary. They weren 't dusted in powdered sugar, but the sweetness was just right. Croque Madame: Can 't go wrong with a ham and cheese sandwich smothered in béchamel sauce with a fried egg on top. The sauce made it rich, and this was definitely a fork an knife sandwich I enjoyed it though, as the bread had a slight sourdough twang. Highly recommend getting the side of the curried pea salad, as that was surprisingly delicious and it was a nice break from the savory sandwich. Fun fact, they have the Secret Aardvark hot sauce (which was featured in Hot Ones), and it was actually really good on this sandwich. Recommend if you like a spicy kick! Apple Fritter Sandwich: While probably very unhealthy... this was actually really good if you like flavor variety. It switched off between saltiness from the bacon to sweet from the apple fritter. The veggies and fried egg tied the whole thing together with some freshness and creaminess (from the yolk). The side potatoes were well cooked. OVERALL A solid breakfast joint in Downtown Portland, particularly if you want options for a group. I thought prices were pretty fair given the quality and portions, and the service was very prompt."
