"Made to feel very welcome, staff were extremely friendly and polite, maybe a bit more training bu that's not their fault. Food was on the whole very good although the cheeseboard looked like it was made up of crumbs rather than pieces of cheese. Very fairly priced, came out happy, always the sign of a good evening"

"Firstly I must start by saying that when I left the Bistro I was asked to get in touch with the staff but I have never tried to contact them after such shocking behaviour towards myself, family and friends.Five of us popped in for midday lunch, snacks, for my youngest daughters 21st birthday in July. We arrived and on looking at the menu decided just to have a drink. We had two younger girls with us who were fussy eaters and there was not a lot on the menu for them to choose from. Also I was shocked at the prices for midday, £7.95 for a bowl of soup is I think expensive. Our drinks took some time to arrive and the order was wrong. The waitress argued the difference between diet and zero coke. She did eventually bring the correct drink as we had ordered but it was warm and certainly not been kept in a fridge.I had both of my daughters with me on this day. One of my daughters is seriously ill and awaiting neuro surgery this month. She was hungry and so we decided to order food instead of going else where. One of the girls only ordered a bowl of chips as this was the only item on the menu she liked. I ordered the soup for practically the same reason and to keep the cost down. The food took such a long time to appear. My friend went to the bar and could see the bowl of soup and chips under lamps to keep them warm. At this point we had waited 45 minutes for two burgers. You could see the bread and salad on the plates waiting for the burgers to be added.Sadly my daughter who is awaiting surgery became ill and went to sit with me outside. A staff member did bring a cold cloth for my daughter and said he was the appointed first aid staff member. We then came back into the restaurant and as we were sat down my daughter lost consciousness. I went to tell the waitress that we were having to leave the restaurant due to my daughter being ill but that I knew I would have to pay for the food. One of the waitresses was lovely, lady with blond hair, and asked if there was anything she could do. However, we needed to leave urgently. Then the food suddenly appeared. One waitress said are you wanting this, with my daughter only just regaining consciousness she plonked a plate in front of her. I walked outside with my daughter to sit in the fresh air again. A waitress brought my bowl of soup outside and a it had a small piece of toasted bread with no butter. Honestly I just did not have the appetite for it with everything that was happening. My daughter ate none of her meal. Started to feel ill again and my friends escorted her to my car where she collapsed again. Whilst they were doing so I went to the bar to pay for the bill. I was again prepared to pay the full bill which I did even though my daughters meal was untouched and other meals not fully eaten due to the circumstances. After paying the bill the waitress asked me if we had enjoyed our visit. I honestly said no as we had waited far too long for our food and my daughter had been too ill to eat her meal. I did say I thought it was unfair to pay for my daughters meal but I had done so. The waitress said she would go and speak with someone in the kitchen. There was an older lady at the back of the bar serving drinks and the waitress also spoke with her about this matter, they both had there backs to me whilst chatting. Please remember that this is all after paying the bill in full. The waitress came back and said that there was nothing that could be done in regards to the bill. I also said that I found the older lady to be rude and that I would not be returning to this establishment especially as she could not even acknowledge my complaint or give me eye contact.I then walked out to find my daughter sat in the car in a collapsed state again and I needed to get her to the hospital urgently. The older lady then came running out of the restaurant shouting and was very rude and confrontational towards me. The gentleman cooking was heard by my friends making remarks towards us that if we wanted fast food we should have gone to McDonald's. Lastly a gentleman came into the car park with some money in his hand pushing it towards me and asking me to take it, which I did not. As I drove away my friends heard this gentleman say let her take it if anything bad happens to her it will look poor on us.Now I must add that the restaurant looks wonderful with beautiful fittings etc. The little bit of soup I had was very nice but it was expensive for what it was (tomato and basil). I can't say how good the burger was as my daughter did no touch it and I did not want to take it home wrapped up in foil for her as the staff had suggested. However, this I do know. I would certainly never return to this establishment again. Personally I feel the way we were treated was shocking and I have never experienced anything like it anywhere in the world. Such rudeness towards paying customers is a joke especially when a medical emergency was taking place right in front of there eyes. My daughter was genuinely ill during this visit having lost consciousness twice. The lack of sympathy, help and concern we received was appalling and the experience is one I will never forget."
