"It's 7.30 pm on a Friday night and I am the only one here. The service was amazing, the food was amazing, the house wine is amazing. I don't get it, what a fabulous spot. In truth the name Water Rat did dent my appetite a bit! But get yourselves down here, menu is superb, with terrific specials that are not on the internet. I've been sailing in the Hamble for xx years, but my first time here, and it's my new favourite place in Hamble already. Stay away! Easier for us to get a table!"

"The interior lighting was subtle and added an intimate glow. The tables are quite close together which means conversations above a wisper are easily heard. Luckily our fellow dinners were not to rowdy. The food had a slightly longer wsiting time between courses which made a nice change) the two ladies that were serving were efficient ,attentive and very pleasant.. And now to the food. The portion sizes were very good , the pricing was also very good. Quality of food , hot but a bit unimaginative. Sauce on mushroom starter was thin and far to nuch .so it looked a little unappetising. Main chargrilled chicken tasted unfamiliar, but was plentiful. Could have done with an option for sauce on parminter potatoes ,as they were a little bit dry."

"A lovely friendly atmosphere, very quaint building and the outlook was superb. the food was delicious and enjoyed by everyone. I would definitely recommend this place to others. Perhaps not to very elderly people as the steps down to the pub are very steep"

"The Jolly Sailor has always been a beautiful pub, set in a fantastic location. But in more recent years the food has been transformed and it now means the Jolly is an excellent place to visit for both a few drinks and a sit down meal. The range of food is impressive but the quality is one of the best in the local area. The staff were friendly and helpful and we would certainly go back again soon."
