"Our daughter has Type 1 diabeties and chose Browns Social House to be her birthday dinner. They sat us right away and the burgers were great! What shocked us was the manager speaking to my daughter on the side asking her for the future to call ahead as other patrons may have allergies. I was enraged with this as the law states Registered Guide Dogs must be allowed to be with their person. Period. After a discussion with the owner it was stated that the Sherwood Park location had an altercation between a family and a person with a Guide Dog because their child had an allergy. While I sympathize with the child and the dilemma of the restaurant it is the law that should have won. The family with the allergy should have been given the Guide Dog ACT and moved to another seat. Not become an unwritten policy to pass on to other Guide Dog owners to call first so that they may check if anyone had an allergy first. The owner Tim retracted the managers request and said he was trying to protect my daughter from embarrassment. Not satisfied with this I phone head office and spoke to the District Manager who said it was not a policy of Browns. I challenged him to make sure that it would not be tolerated by any Browns location to even suggest an unofficial policy by being so offensive as to suggest a life saving Guide Dog be asked to call ahead based on an allergy. Our daughter has travelled on a plane and visited many locations with her gorgeous dog while attending college in Red Deer and not ONCE have we run into this issue. While I have received an apology not once has an invitation been offered to my daughter and Guide Dog to come back. I think they missed the point. She picked them for her birthday dinner out of many locations and she was made to feel embarrassed for what is our right as individuals to have their Guide Dog attend and protect them."

"Food: The food was fresh and had some good flavors. A lot of choice, so there's something for everyone. Would not recommend the chopped water, because in my opinion it is not really worthwhile for what you get. Service: The staff was really friendly and ready to jump to help you through the menu. The menu has a lot of variety, so it is a little intimidating when you consider it first, but the staff was very helpful. Atmosphere: Very nice interior very sharp and clean. Easy. The feeling of the place fits very well with the food."
