"We went by today and got the spaghetti carbonara, gyro quesadilla, and gyro sandwich. Everything was absolutely amazing and I have to say I love the rebuttal from the restaurant back to some of these bad reviews. In fact that was the reason I decided to go today. This really is a little hidden gem in Palestine and I can't imagine that any of the food is subpar. I have eaten gyros in Greece and these compare."

"Happened across this gem as it was near the hotel where we were staying. Really good salsa to start....just spicy enough and lots of flavor and the chips are nice and thin and fresh. We also 'splurged ' on some queso. It 's a really nice, creamy queso blanco with lots of flavor, but not spicy. All the staff was very nice and our waitress, Ashley, took great care of us. I had their Sangria Margarita and Norteño Burrito, both at her recommendation....and they were fantastic! The Sangria Margarita is just the right mix of sweet, limey and tangy from the red wine mixture they use (she said they use a prepared sangria, but mix it with Burgundy wine). The Norteño Burrito is PACKED with delicious, tender Carnitas and guacamole, in a flour tortilla, covered with two delicious sauces: a red, tomato based and a green chili sauce. They then sprinkle cheese and fresh corn on top of the whole thing. It 's probably a 10/12 inch tortilla, so it 's a VERY generous portion (and for only $11). It 's accompanied by a side of refried or charro beans and some very delicious cilantro rice. It 's all soooo good!! My son had their crispy beef (sirloin) tacos and red Mexican Rice . They had a very nice portion of meat and cheese in each (all he eats on them) and that rice was also delicious....fluffy and fresh and very flavorful, just like the cilantro rice. We were very pleasantly surprised it was so close, inexpensive, and such a great meal tucked behind its very unassuming exterior. If you 're in Palestine, TX, I highly recommend that you don 't let it 's outside fool ya and stop in to Don Mario 's (don 't know why Yelp shows Don Jose 's)!"
