"Medina GauchoConvenient place for a business meeting or to gather with friends and family. It sits between two business hotels and has several larger companies around it. The wonderful aroma coming from the open kitchen when entering will make your mouth salivate for the Argentinian style roasted meats. The house salad greens are very fresh and the dressing light and complements the greens rather than drowns them. My colleagues enjoyed plates of fried zucchini and chorizo and cheese with tortillas as starters. For the main course we had the house special flamed beef. The preparation of the meat was done at the table. The cloth table napkin was soaked in red wine, opens flat in a bowl. A glass of salt and pepper were added. The well oiled hunk of meat was added and throughly coated. Then the napkin was rolled around the meat and tied. That bundle was placed directly onto the coals of the wood burning oven. The charred presentation was unwrapped table side and the hunk of meat emerged without s scorch. It was lightly pounded on a rack to remove the casing of salt and presented on an extremely hot platter with roasted onions and a a couple of peppers. The meat when sliced had areas of rare to well done and if you didn't want it rarer, placing it briefly on the platter cooks it more. As our party broke up a few of us were invited to another table to join lively conversation and laughs while a few desserts were shared. It was an enjoyable afternoon/evening. Perfect balance of food, service and ambiance."

"It had been a few years since we were in Zocalo, but it was as good as we remembered it to be. There were still some favorites on the menu, but also some new dishes, and they didn't disappoint. This is the only menu among many in Charlottesville that is really different and exciting. I had the duck breast cooked perfectly and accompanied by a great sauce, braised chard and an onion manchego bread pudding, and my wife loved her salmon. My starter, the tuna tartar, was too heavenly and had a healthy kick. Highly recommended!"
