"Basho has hot pot now! Yay!! Went here specifically to try their hot pot, since there has been a lack in the area since Swish Shabu closed a few years back.We were initially seated in the regular section but when the waiter learned we wanted hot pot, we were then moved to the hot pot section that has the tables with the heaters.We ordered 2 broths chicken broth and goji berry broth, one order of the chicken combo which comes with a side of veggies and rice, and we also ordered a side of ramen. Technically the combo orders are for one person but it seemed like enough food for two. We could have ordered a second one or a few extra sides, but in the end it was ok.Both broths were on the mild side I thought the goji berry broth had a really interesting tangy sweet flavor. The condiments (garlic, hot sauce, soy sauce) helped add flavor, but we've had broths like tonkatsu in other shabu places which is really quite flavorful and would be good to add here as an option imo. The other broths included a spicy one and a Tom yum broth which would be worth trying at least once.The hot pots at times would start boiling over quite rapidly and we were worried they might boils over, but the servers came by to check and moderate the heat. Also we realized that adding ingredients into them calmed them down a bit so it was a bit of nervous action going on ha ha!Overall nice experience to try out once."

"Food was good — there’s nothing special to it and everything tasted like there was something missing — the food could be better. Service was extremely slow. We found ourselves waiting ridiculous amounts of time in between general table service. The server was very kind despite this inconvenience. Ambience was great — the restaurant is beautiful, the music is amazing, and the bathrooms were really nice! Overall, The Merchant is a good place — food and service could use some improvement!"

"Great value for money. Located in a corner in the center Chinatown you found this food stall in a mini hidden food court, this is a great way to have a ramen in Boston Downtown. I liked the Cha Siu Ramen (pork) but not the Chicken Ramen because a spice that I don't get use to (I guess it's an adquiere flavor). The service is fast and the place is not crowed. The atmosphere is cozy and quite, and they have a long menu options: ramen, sweet crepes and the fluffy Shaved Snow, a new ice cream concept that sounds quite interesting... if you don't feel stuffed after your lunch."

"WOW! I was craving sushi and had never heard of Pabu. IT. WAS. AMAZING. Fantastic service from the moment we walked in, warm washcloths to clean your hands, SUPER helpful server (Jason) helped me pick the perfect wine, incredible gyoza and edamame appetizers, the sushi was phenomenal. Freshwater eel, yellowtail, and salmon sashimi were our favorites. We also had several delicious rolls. For dessert the Japanese doughnuts SO GOOD we practically licked the plate clean. Fluffy, warm, soft...rolled in sesame...sweet sauce everything you want in a dessert. Just enough but not too much. Perfect to share. I cannot wait to make this place one of my go tos. Was for sushi but worth EVERY penny!"
