"We made reservations for a large party of guests from out of town, but the reservationists did not tell us about the underground parking. As a result, they would not seat us or serve us any apertifs or hors d'ouevres at all until the entire party arrived, half of which were wandering around La Jolla looking for places to park. When everyone finally arrived and were seated, looking at the menus, the waitress came up to us and said something I've never heard in a restuarant before or since: she notified us that we need to vacate the table by a certain time as they had another reservation coming. In disbelief, we talked about leaving immediately, but they had our credit card to make reservations and would no doubt have charged us. In the following years, we have chosen to take our guests elsewhere."
