"Amazing experience: the food, location and staff are simple awesome. The fish is always fresh out of the sea and everything is super tasty from raw to grilled. I’m a fan of raw fish so it’s a must: oysters, red shrimps and sea urchin (ask for the “antipasto del mare” and you’ll understand). This restaurant is a gem in Italy and it’s a obligatory stop if you wanna taste the true regional dishes made in majestically way."

"In a city where there are many trendy and di moda restaurants (many of which are very good), Monastero is a welcome throwback to just plain simple and good fresh seafood. Tuna great. Sword great. The cooked and raw antipasti great. The ricci were a particular treat. Several shrimp dishes had a more contemporary flair and were delicious. The service was great. Our waiter, Alessandro, was excellent in all respects. We ate at Monastero on a quiet night and on a very busy Saturday night, and, on both occasions the service was excellent, right along with the food. We also noticed a lot of the guests were local people, which always says something. So, if you want to hit a trendy, social media hyped trattoria, go for it, but, make sure you leave time for at least one meal at Monastero...you 'll agree that some things are better left unchanged and that experience counts. Buon appetito!!"

"This restaurant should not be missed. The chef and his wife present visual and culinary masterpieces. The spinach and ricotta ravioli is amazing. The desserts are over the top. This may have been the best meal I have had in Italy."
