"It's easy to be impressed by the setting when the grey hallway of the old hotel gives way to a vast space adorned with chandeliers it has the cool vibe of New York or L.A. Our marble table by the window under the glow of the Balmoral also felt pretty special. The food is certainly good too and very reasonably priced for the standard. I had the chicken supreme with a confit leg and pumpkin gratin, little cauliflower gougeres (like savoury profiteroles and a delicious sauce that was rich and, to be a bit fancy, umami. Had a side of macaroni cheese to share too (just because... which had a lovely background flavour I couldn't quite make out. I finished things off with a scoop of mascarpone sorbet (good, but very sweet and a scoop of spiced orange ice cream which was tasty but a bit rough in texture. The service wasn't as slick as the surroundings though a little slow and two things we ordered were forgotten about (but didn't take too long to emerge when we pointed it out and the toilets were disappointing and freezing. There is an extensive drinks list and the lunch deal looks pretty good."

"Every now again you get lucky when picking a restaurant that you've never been to. That definitely applies to our visit to Rancho in Edinburgh. Being the bank holiday weekend in August, after a Scotland Rugby game, and with the Festival still running too, I had tried booking other restaurants without luck before finding Rancho on Tripadvisor. It looked OK so I booked. When we got there the greeting was welcoming, service was excellent and oh my goodness the Rib Eye Steak (cooked medium) was succulent and absolutely full of flavour. There was a limited menu selection with it being a rugby match day which was slightly disappointing but it didn't really spoil the experience, and I'm glad we went. Definitely going to book again for our next visit."

"Very nice place, kind waitresses, they server water as soon as you sit down. The tip will be with the bill, just FYI. Food was amazing and the drinks too, nice terrace in center if you catch a nice weather. Can just recommend"

"I came across shebeen and just had to stop to check out what a food African is. the menu gave nothing, and to be honest, I am still not sure so I had to try the same night. the decor was fitting and gave an African feeling. I asked the waiter to recommend something from Africa, but I was really not satisfied with the answer. the less I have accepted. pity, I really wanted to see what African food had to offer I ordered the lion size rib eye on the bones and the firkadelle to start.
