"I went at 5pm so the first customer and the place was all empty. Service was prompt as expected. Had a drink 8£ not worth it. Can’t even rem the name. Then had the mix grilled for person. Although this was good quantity but the cuts were cheap. Doubt if they were real ribeye or sirloin. The chop was nice but the rest do it was — naaa . Didn’t really make a steak house for me. 28£. Sauce, Chips n salsa were included. Overall 2/5 for taste n value."

"I am already won over when I walk in to the restaurant out of the freezing air into a gloriously warm space. I later find that the temperature is set to Australian temperature, co-owner Georgie Binder’s native country Blackfriars Bar and Restaurant is located just off the Royal Mile in the premises that used to be Black Bo’s, an Edinburgh institution for more than 20 years. "A new venue for my annual Christmas afternoon tea with friends. The menu was lovely, very Christmassy, and the extra plate of hot scones went down a treat. Great value for money and wonderful service from our waiter. Highly recommended"

"Went to Steak on stones with pals tonight to take on the 22 quid for 3 course menu they've ran in January. Starter was soup of the day (Cauliflower) then Sirloin with chips and choice of sauce (peppercorn) and then donut and dipping sauce to finish. There was not even a glimmer of hope to switch the soup for a real' starter. I always find soup a waste of a first course...the only other option was a piece of bread for 1.50. Eh?! Steak was good, chups good, sauce...cold. donuts were quite tough and the jam was the saviour. Chocolate dipper was like burnt chocolate. Cocktails weren't up to much either.
