"Let's go. Eating at the Tackle Box is a LOT like a classic Clint Eastwood movie... The good, the bathroom and the Ugly . 1., the GOOD. The food is cooked to order, served hot and fresh, with decent portions, and depending on the days there are meals specialties to have. The spices are near Spot-on and come with lots of spices. The atmosphere is classic country, with pool and video games, and a fully dimensioned bar. I ordered the Boar Burger with Fritten, my wife ordered the French Dip with Fritten, and my son ordered the Fried Gator with Fritten (ALL pictured). We also ordered the Fried Mushrooms as an appetizer. Don't let mince words... the boar was well cooked and HEAVY, and had a light playy taste that was expected. The Gator was perfectly seasoned and slightly chewing...again, expected. The French dip was full of meat and vegetables, and the meat was tender. 2nd, the BAD... for the food. Since everything is prepared to order, we waited and waited... and waited. Each order came in 10 minutes increments that did not belong. For our orders it took a total of 40 minutes. Eating a meal as a family was almost ruined. 3., the UGLY... the lack of enthusiasm by the customer, the cook and the server. Everyone looked like they could or should be somewhere, but there, and the amount of flies in the facility. It is hard to eat when you constantly fly watting from both your drink and meal. This place is 3 stars alone through food, but has plenty of space to improve, especially when ordering out and customer service. Yeah, I understand it's a hole in the wall, but it should be BETTER. I can eat here again, but not with the family."

"Love local places like this. The diner is decorated nicely, kinda cowboy country house sort of feel. Got to talk to one of the owners about the menu and how the pulled pork was prepared, great stuff! My two teenage boys had cowboy burgers. They loved em, ate em all up. They looked to me to have a good amount of char, thick pieces of bacon (cut nice to fit on the burger and not dangle out and of course some melted cheese : I love pulled pork, so I went with the wrap. The smoky flavor was balanced nice with their Cole slaw. The pork did not have an overwhelming amount of smoked flavor. Their home made BBQ sauce went on it and paired wonderfully well. Their slaw is not runny which I prefer as well. We all shared a larger order of onion rings and tried all three sauces. Soooo good. Event got some fries in there. They are not real thick, so a good amount of crunch which is what I like! Full on soda fountain and I saw a couple sipping on bottled beer. I had complimentry water. Definately a good place and worth the small drive out of the crowded city, take your kids. Gonna check out Ike's smokehouse in town later for the full smoked meat menu. I heard the ribs were awesome. Go get your grub on!"

"The Bootleggers were at the Chico High football games tonight so we got the pulled pork, the tri tip and the chicken thigh combos. With smoked Mac and cheese and garlic smashed potato. Super good! I made it to my last bite before getting bbq sauce on my white shirt."

"Used to frequent L&L in Roseville and been missing Hawaiian BBQ ever since I moved to Chico. I had the BBQ Mix plate and it was excellent. Big plate of delicious food that I could not finish in one sitting, so I had some leftovers to bring home with me. The staff was friendly and courteous. Inside seating is limited so you may want to order takeout. Will definitely be working this into my weekday lunch and weekend dinner rotation."

"Not sure if I can make a fair assessment, I was just here twice. The first time I ordered a steak sandwich. everything was perfect and delicious. When I went back for the second time, it was like a completely different restaurant, I ordered the exact same meal and it was basically impossible. I ate the bread and throw the meat to the dog."
