"Packed with any other restaurant, the hospitality here might be the best we had. at the arrival we were not turned away because we had no booking, and the service was quite at the point. the environment was great, all traditional decor and very clean and tidy. that was great, but there were some who would have been better. Overall, I would recommend this place if they were to thai and in hertford."

"Not the best turkish food I've had, the vine leaves tasted like they came from a tin, the pide just looked like a calzone not like traditional turkish pide, the chips were not fresh and tasted like they were supermarket frozen chips, I also prdered the lamb iskendar , the portion was small, the flavour was very weak. The drinks were small, I ordered a virgin mojito, it was full of ice and had no flavour very watery, the houmous was very grainy. We ended up paying £350+ really not worth it . However the staff were very good and prompt."

"We had lunch here with our son, daughter and new granddaughter. All of the food was superb but a special mention from me for the fish pie, the best I've ever had in a pub (and I've had more than a few! . The lunchtime meal deal 2 courses for £25 is brilliant value for money but everything was well priced for food of this quality."

"Very pleasant meal .buched for a 'seven birthday' family dinner. Sunday reddishes but also alternative! welcome ambiente. could not have the menu choice or the waiter service incredibly attentive place on! definitiw more than 'pub food' they know how to fry (a carvery das ain 't! good selection of weep not overpriced. we will definitely go back! the tilbury!"

"My old disabled father had just come from the sick house and we hoped to find a nice place to lunch so that we came from the main street and came over the axe and compass. they could not have been more helpful and more patient...while they would have accepted us, so my father could easily get on going with crutches and get on support wherever they could. the food was delicious and the service we received was first class. although the axe and compass quite far from where we live, we want to try to go back there."
