"Believe it or not, our recommendation for this gorgeous century inn came from a table mat! My parents have a set of famous English pubs' placemats and this is one of them. As we happened to be in the area, visiting the superb Cotswolds...Distillery, we thought we'd better try it. The Black Horse serves Thai food. A lot of pubs that are converted into restaurants lose their pub character altogether and I was a bit concerned that the Black Horse might be one of them. However, I am delighted to say that the bar and lounge areas still represent a good, traditional English pub with a cosy atmosphere and, by all appearances, a thriving trade entirely separately from the restaurant. The restaurant is housed in a large room with the same old stone and wooden beams as the rest of the inn. The menu is extensive and varied. Prices are fair. Service was very friendly and efficient. All of us found our meals to be absolutely delicious. Oddly, neither desserts nor tea appeared on the menu. Not a big deal but worth bearing in mind. Overall, a really enjoyable lunch. The Black Horse Inn is not on a table mat for nothing!"

"Cash only, which in only means a tax reduction exercise. Food was disappointing, with no flavour and obvious bottled sauce in the Szechuan dish. So sad, as we are new in town and looking to frequent local eateries."

"I’d really looked forward to this but 3 mouthfuls in realised it was going in the bin , it was so salty that was all you could taste . I have rung and told them but didn’t reorder as quite late ...I won’t be ordering again ..."

"Great pub, perfect place to come after a beautiful walk along the canal; dog friendly is also a massive bonus. eating is great and cheap, the steak and ale cake was brilliant with melt in mouth meat! highly recommended for his friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere and ingenious eating"
