"As a pilger, which was 15 km from my previous camping site, this guest house was an absolute goddess. we were greeted by the natives who sat on the afternoon and gazing the sun over the local grill field, they were friendly, smiling and were really curious to find out where we had gone. we urgently needed a camping site, as our next camp was still 2 hours to walk away and the afternoon moved to us, needed food and began to build the camp. the bar manager kindly offered us the use of their field in exchange for our customers. the field was a standard camping field with soft fresh. own gras (good nights sleep.) I ate in the restaurant area that was appropriately thawed where I would argue that eating in the did was sufficient, it certainly meet the place good old-fashioned full-fledged pub food."

"We had travelled from Sandwich to meet friends from Eastbourne. The doors were not open at 11 as stated on line, but following a phone call they were opened at 11.30. There was a lovely warm living fire which we hogged while we enjoyed excellent coffee and catch up with our friends. The menu is excellent, the food brilliant, as was the service attentive without being intrusive. We'll be meeting more friends, from Uckfield, shortly and I think we'll be enjoying The Bull again."

"16. October my daughter had her wedding reception at the hotel and we had 11 rooms. I can honestly everything and all the staff where brilliant the food was nice and nothing was a problem. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and I would recommend the White Lion and Hotel to anyone who had a celebration"

"I’ve visited the old mill many times over the last 10 years. For work dinners. With my husband. Socially with friends. I’ve never had any problems with food or service. Nice varied menu. Average price. Good quality and a nice setting. It’s tucked on outskirts of town away from any other buildings. Good choice for a nice place to eat. Highly recommend the brie, ribs and butter chicken. Would not hesitate to return or to recommend."

"We held our high time here and it was not exaggerated, perfect. from our first meeting until the day after the event, the team of secret garden were fantastic, they run an incredibly smooth operation and are really expert at hosting events. they had already thought of everything, which means that we had to choose everything we wanted on the day! They were also more than happy to organize with other external providers that we used on the day, so that it was something else we didn't have to worry about! our guests all had a wonderful time and were all as impressed as well as eating (we had the festive menu that was a beautiful, informal alternative to normal table service) how beautiful the venue was, and how relaxed the day was. it would strongly recommend to everyone to keep any kind of event, not only high times, the team of secret garden are a pleasure to work with."

"Has gone downhill massively with the change of management. The clients are not people who you will want to share a pub with. Very intimidating, loads of load swearing and there had just been an incident. It used to be excellent food but we left before ordering and will not go back. Restaurant used to be full at the weekend and now it was empty, which says it all."
