"I have been going to Chen Yuen for the last 4-5 years, and being around the corner, this was one of my favourite local eateries. I am a huge fan of Chinese food, having been to dozens around Melbourne, and previously rated this as one of the best "local" Chinese restaurants in Melbourne. My previous recommendations were Decor - 7/10; Service - 7/10; Food - 8.5/10; Value 8/10. Probably the best fried rice I'd ever had. However, in early 2012, the restaurant changed ownership and which saw a price increase of 20-30% and a dramatic reduction in food quality. I've now been there at least four times and have been disappointed on each occasion. I have no desire to return. I'd now rate the food below that of "food court" Chinese and would give 3/10. Furthermore, they no longer stay open until the time listed on the door (11pm on Friday and Sat - have seen them close as early as 9.30pm). I am so disappointed as I rated this restaurant highly and recommended to many friends in the past."
