"God where do I start....We end up here quite often simply because the food is AMAZING!!! Faultless, tasty, well presented ,delicious and pure yummy. I can't recommend ranfields enough. Jon boy is a fantastic chef, as are his staff. Sarah is just delightful always a cracking welcome. My boys loved it. I'm sure me and chiefy Janey potter will be turning up soon. Xx"

"A little disappointed by the way this meal went, and also surprised by the limited weekend menu. I ordered the special and that was very Bland, in addition I found a wasp in my food (amongst salad). Although the owner was very apologetic, I can't help, but the feeling the boss or the staff would have reviewed my food before I serve it. In addition, I was offered a free drink, but expected to pay for my meal when I took this, so I didn't get the drink and instead took the money from the meal. It is a shame that it has a beautiful environment and has left me that I do not return in a hurry."

"Ideal place to go if you don't want a drink ! This pub has the potential to be the best pub in Halstead but for years now the management and service has been appalling. I don't understand why GK do not take any interest in this pub !"

"We seriously cannot praise the lovely Staff at the newly taken over Kings Head enough after visiting here last week. They were so warm and welcoming as was the log fire which created a cosy atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble for both of...the lovely girls serving us. They easily accommodated our needs with a smile. The food was an absolute delight and cooked to perfection by a Chef who really knew his onions! We started with Chicken Gougons and the Oriental Pork Belly, both dishes tantalising our taste buds in readiness for our main course. I chose the Fish and Chips which were triple cooked and delicious. The batter which coated the succulent white haddock was light and crispy, exactly how I like it and the salad accompanying my meal was seasoned and dressed perfectly. Thank you Chef. My Husband chose the Pork Belly which was a melt in the mouth delight with the crispiest of crackling and fresh vegetables to accompany it. We opted to skip dessert and ordered a Coffee which was served with a lovely homemade shortbread biscuit. An unexpected but very nice touch. Eating in such a relaxing and friendly environment enhanced the enjoyment of such a superb lunch and we can't wait to visit here again. We would like to take this opportunity to wish the new Proprietors every success and would highly recommend anyone to book a meal here soon. You will not be disappointed."

"Lovely cafe. We had a very reasonably priced bacon sandwich and coffee. Relaxing atmosphere and very polite staff. There is plenty to look at in the shop. Some items a little expensive but we found some lovely jams and preserves. Would visit again."
