"This place can have great food one week and terrible food the next. Friday and Saturday nights they have a smorgasbord which I think is a bit over priced. Avoid the roast lamb ice cream, it is the worst. A couple of their dishes are the bomb."

"Freshly cooked locally made pasta, so delicious. Only open for lunches and only Monday to Friday but so worth scheduling a visit. The pasta is always delicious. We love the pumpkin and ricotta ravioli to take home if you would prefer to cook it yourself."

"Recently stayed a night in this Hotel. Plenty of memorabilia of days-gone-by especially regarding Slim Dusty & his hit song 'The Pub With No Beer', which gave Australia it's first Number One hit song on the charts.Although recently refurbished, it was disappointing to see the landing to our floor, plus our room was dirty & had not been cleaned to a reasonable standard. Nor do their vacuuming skills extend to the corners or alongside the skirting boards. I had to ask for someone to come in to vacuum up a whole heap of toe-nails left scattered beside the bed from a previous guest. A filled ashtray, topped with a used piece of sticking plaster was also what greeted me on our outdoor table. Yes, house-keeping skills could do with a major shake-up. Both of these matters were attended to promptly, when bought to their attention, however, why were they not attended to prior to our arrival. Perhaps it would be a good idea if they hired a dedicated cleaner & bought a commercial vacuum for them to use, not the pathetic one we saw being used. Certainly would make a huge difference if the Hotel floors had a good clean.Also we left with our bags etc covered in ants. I felt it took the shine off our stay."

"I had the best beef and Bacon bee that I had for a while, the taste was something that was unforgettable. Of course, I would suggest that they use speckhucks, the mixture was fleshy and a sweet bacon aroma similar to the peas soup aroma. the baked was good, the basic was solid and not soggy, that is a good sign, and the tip was light and fluffy. I had a sausage roll to this mixture was nice and damp with a homemade flavor, not a dry and commercially produced taste. and again the bake was light and flakey. my wife had a spinach ricotta package and said it was devine. the rest of the sweets and cakes look excellently fresh the broth also beautiful, we have not tried this so can not comment. but if you look for a fantastic pie sausage roll, then they can't beat micks!. I highly recommend it."

"On my way to Cairns and decided to stop in this small quaint town. I was hesitant to enter this deli, but am I glad I did. Bought a roast beef sandwich that I devoured after my hike at Wallaman Falls. It was perfect. On my way back to Cairns, I had to stop for a second fix of this addicting Nutella Ice Latte. It was the best. So much better than Starbucks. All staff were soooo friendly."
