"I quite enjoyed my experience here - we came as a group and had a table booked as requested, and when the weather went bad staff were lovely about moving inside. We were curious about the beers and one of the staff dug out their secret reserve stack of beers out the back which was really nice. Our food servings were generous and tasty, with some really good value $15 lunch deals.<br>

My spicy buffalo wings were especially notable - not very spicy and not traditional buffalo sauce but they tasted so delectable, and were cooked to a hot, fresh and juicy crispy perfection. The jalapeño poppers were huge and fresh, and so yummy. The fried chicken waffles with whiskey maple, OMG - I don't go for sweet dishes but that was amazing even if presentation wasn't the best. My sliders were OK, not as hot and tasty but not bad - they really needed a condiment. I tried the loaded fries and mac and cheese which were OK but I loved my own choices and will definitely go back. <br>

I was impressed at what they could do with such a tiny kitchen. The only thing was we wanted to order more drinks and desserts too but we had to repeatedly ask for service and it was too difficult that we ended up going elsewhere after but this seems to be a Perth trend. We otherwise enjoyed our experience and I have been back (from craving those wings) and the service was excellent. I noticed the owner (when he had time) made sure to check on all tables personally and meet his customers which was a really nice touch. I definitely feel like this business cares a lot about it's customers."

"This is my new favorite place to eat. Great food at great prices, nothing too fancy but great value for money. The rice bowls and noodle soups never disappoint and for around 10 bucks, bargain. My fav is the katsu curry rice bowl. The young lady who works behind the counter is super friendly and does a great job, especially since this place is quite popular and can get very very busy at times. I look forward to many visits to this restaurant. Thanks"

"In the past few months i have been here a few times and every time I go i fall in love a little bit more (if that's possible).Lunch bento boxes are so tasty and economical you would be crazy not to try.Dinner is always busy but in a good way. The nanban chicken is my favourite, followed by angry birds, barramundi eggplant curry, tempura prawns and the genghis khan. Top it off with the Matcha ice cream and egg waffles....arghhh it's making me hungry just talking about it!!Please enjoy the photo of my Taro latte which lasted all of 1 minute before being devoured"

"This little cafe is utterly fabulous with healthy fresh meals that just can't be beaten for flavour. Previously we have had the amazing Bahn mi thit - the flavorsome pork rolls with duck pate and fresh salad which, at $7 is an absolute bargain!. Even my daughter, who was determined not to like it because of the pate was completely won over! Today we tried the Bun bo hue (spicy pork and beef noodle soup), the BTN (Bun thit nuong - chargrilled pork with noodles) and the rice with pork and a fried egg. My BTN had pieces of pork with lovely salty crackling, and the salad and herbs were as fresh as could be. The other dishes looked just as fresh and gorgeous, and the portion sizes are generous - you won't leave feeling hungry!<br>

The customer service is always excellent and really friendly. Vic Park Express is an absolute gem - just go and try it."

However, Red Basil goes above and beyond what we could ever achieve in our kitchen. <br/ <br/ FOOD<br/ <br/ Truly one of the freshest and best tasting Thai food we have ever had. Our regular orders include the peanut satay, any of the curries, and the spring rolls. If you are a spice and coconut lover, the tom kha soup warrants a special mention, as it is out of this world in flavour. Portion sizes are large enough that you will have leftovers to take home. <br/ <br/ VIBE<br/ <br/ Red Basil is a small, simple Thai kitchen style restaurant that would be easy to look over when walking down the main street of Victoria Park. With simple décor and only a limited number of tables, it is essential to book beforehand. While not a fancy dining experience, the food more than makes up for it. <br/ <br/ SERVICE <br/ <br/ Service is excellent, the staff are quick and friendly. <br/ <br/ CRITIQUE <br/ <br/ The only downside is that the size of the venue makes it feel a bit cramped, other than that, however, there is nothing to critique. <br/ <br/ OVERALL<br/ <br/ If you want simple and delicious Thai food, Red Basil is easily one of the best we have ever been to. "The name spells it out really reasonable for lunch but not so great for dinner. We ordered salmon and chicken, kale and spinach pasta and pepper beef salad. In short, the meals were basic with small portions. The quality of the ingredients was reasonable but nothing special. Service was rudimentary but not unfriendly For the price, we felt the overall value was reasonable, and we will likely visit again to try some other dishes."

"Appallingly bad. Ordered on uber eats the three cheese quesadilla. Literally just some cheese in between two tortillas that seemed store bought. Didn't put any salsa in even though that was listed. Jalapeno poppers were completely tasteless. Never felt so ripped off."
