"Coscio di Badia is a lovely family-run agriturismo on land that has been in the proprietor’s family for more than 300 years. The property is very well-kept with pretty plantings and has a spectacular view of Mt Etna on clear days. If you are visiting Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples, I highly recommend staying here as a beautiful contrast to the gritty bustle of Agrigento. You can take walks along the country roads, and if you come with kids, the farm has a playground along with animals like peacocks and geese that children will love. There are beautiful views of the nearby mountaintop towns like Naro. I can’t emphasize enough how friendly and generous all family members were—we met mom, two daughters and one “ragazzo”. Our room was very comfortable with a view of Etna, and in a private location away from the main building and restaurant. The food was delicious, home cooked and authentically Sicilian. At our two dinners, we had a tasty timballo, a pasta with cauliflower, salsicce, and lamb along with very hearty appetizer plates. One of the plates included three different delicious cheeses (along with other items) including a super-fresh ricotta, a melted pecorino and Piacentinu Ennese (really really tasty and a first for me). Breakfasts had something for every taste: muesli (granola), yogurt, juice, fruit, biscotto, bread, cheese, ham and a homemade ricotta and strawberry cake one morning. Stay more than one night and you will find yourself completely relaxed by the end of your stay. Oh, and try Coscio di Badia’s own red wine—delicious."
