"Around the corner from our Hotel Novotel Central (which has great staff and worth staying at) saw this place was packed at lunch so went there for dinner. Simple setting but good food, served quickly and $50 for 4 meals with 2 glasses...of wine does anyone bother to cook in Sydney?"

"Wanted to eat Japanese but the good one nearby must have moved or closed. So reading the ad outside this place which claims free range chicken so decide to give it a go. Chatted to the waiter who claims they supply 80% of the Cantonese roast meat in China Town... Basically quality of roast duck and steamed chicken is not up to standard and what a disappointment!"

"Ming hai is a cantonese restaurant in haymarket that serves typical hong Kong food. there were ipads in the restaurant that allowed them to order food, but these tablets hang almost as long as I was there. <br br>/ I have tried her brown and her roasted joys. Oh, my God, the congee is as diluted as water and I think everyone young can cook better. the roasted joys see and taste more like muddy joys. avoid them at all costs!"

I usually come here at least once a year. It has been very consistent for a long time. It is becoming more targeted towards rich Chinese diners who will spend hundreds or even thousands per person.<br>

Reservations at peak times generally incur a wait time in the tiny waiting area.<br>
Service is efficient but brusque.<br>

Whilst mainly known for being a seafood (live tank) restaurant, I think this is the best Peking Duck in Sydney, and reasonably priced at under $90 or a half serve is also available. It's also one of the only restaurants left where you can actually choose the 2nd course of your duck.<br>

Live pippies and mud crab tonight was delicious and well executed.<br>

BYO is a steal compared to the wine list at $8 per person (unlimited bottles).<br>

I don't think they've changed their business model, or refurbished much over the years (except targeting Chinese diners), and they haven't had to as it's still as busy as ever."
