"This was known as ginger n spice and around 2016 the name changed to shop street kitchen. We loved their food n Alex and Claudia looked after us for over 10 years despite their price increase and the deletion of their credit card facility. 2...months ago their hainanese chicken rice was where we travelled to for a whole chicken and their chicken rice! Last night we noted the new staff and the mandarin speaking prob mainland Chinese) new owner. After a long wait 20 min for food , also noted their lack of organisation with the waitressing at staff. It’s ok we thought waiting for our hainanese chicken n rice.....yes... finally arrived... after filling my bowl with lukewarm dry rice, the chicken tasted funny. After the second piece without sauce I felt it was not hard n dry when it is overdone nor soft and red. I think it was getting a little’rotten’ firm but had mashable bits in it. Poor son this is his favourite and had 1/2 the place with sauce n chilli suddenly realised it tasted weird. I explained to the first then second waitress that something is wrong with the chicken n wanted them to taste it. Response was it’s ok without even tasting it and kept smiling despite my explanation! So I got the boss/ cook And all he offered was sorry. No offer to replace or reimburse the 1/2 chicken. The curry puff was dry so was the beef rendang hard n chewy. Only sambal French beans gado gado were ok. We left. Disgusted. They do not know how to handle complaints... we will not go back there with the present owners.To top it off my son had diarrhoea all night. ?salmonella???Should I complain to the nsw food authority? So beware eat at your own risk. And where would we go now for that previous perfect Hainanese chicken rice???"
