"We have been looking forward to their re-opening ever since the pandemic. We have eaten there a few times since they reopened but this is the first time we had enough self control to take pictures before devouring the food. We got the Ox-tail Meal, Curry Goat Roti, Plantains, Festival and some Jamaican patties. Not only is the food amazing and made to order, but the owner and her service is unparalleled — her suggestions and explanations are on point and shes a blast to talk to while you wait for your food. We will definitely keep returning"

"Wow! What a fine. I live close to this area, and this location has changed, hands many times, from being a pub to a restaurant. None of the previous places have worked out. When I saw this place open, I was skeptical. But I thought I'd try it out tonight. Probably the best Indian takeout I've had in the area ever. Authentically made curries, beautifully spiced and aromatic, just delicious. Fragrant and perfectly steamed basmati rice and fresh, stretchy naan, clearly homemade. I recommend this place to anyone. Don't be put off by the rathe kitch-looking name and exterior. The place is full of Indo-Canadian people, which is a great sign, and it lives up to true authenticity and beautiful food."

"We arrived at D Hot Shoppe at about 6:45 for take out . The friendly server informed me that they were out of Roti wraps . She then suggested that I order the curry chicken dinner instead of the roti as the wraps were done for the day . I agreed. It was ok but without that yummy wrap , the Jamaican curry is pretty one dimensional .There was a reasonable amount of chicken but the sauce is pretty boring with too many potatoes . She told me the rice with peas was yummy but again pretty boring. I realized that it was the roti wraps they serve that make the chicken curry roti so yummy . I regret that I didn't order the jerk dinner instead . Next time they are out of the wraps I will order the jerk . My friend ordered it and she loved it . I grew up in Toronto and lived around the corner from The Real Jerk for many years . Top of the line Jamaican food there so I'm quite spoiled . This place is ok in suburbia land where interesting food choices are limited . I look forward to trying their jerk sometime and hopefully their wraps are in stock next time we are in the area"

"After several years of dependably excellent food, Amaya radically changed their recipes definitely for the worse. We'll never eat there again. We thought we knew Amaya Express Brant St very well after enjoying 50+ excellent meals in a row over 6 years. But that...all changed abruptly after our last takeout. All of our favourite recipes had changed from excellent to awful. The spinach sauce we loved had gone from green to brown, and tasted completely different. All the mild sauces we liked were suddenly extra spicy. Even the simple pakoras were much too salty to eat. Unbelievable. Instead of trading favours for the last spoonful of sauce, we dumped most of the meal into the green bin. And felt sad about the passing of a beautiful thing."

"The best Caribbean rotis that I found everywhere, and that includes the Caribbean itself! the roti wrap itself is fresh with the perfect texture – just the right mix of chewing and flocky. the curry is delicious when they choose a little less warm. it's so good that I always ask for extra gravity. it is absolutely packed with perfectly delicate meat; I usually go with the flesh, personally, and they do not skip to the flesh, and of course, if they feel brave, they can always light the heat! the curry is hot but not as hot as the chefs!"
