"Absolutely superb food with very interesting menu and specials. A few old faithfuls such as steak and kidney pies home made are some of the best I’ve had. Great draught beers available. Staff are brilliant."

"Disappointing visit to the Sportsman. Have previously eaten here and it was my local pub in my younger days so fond memories. Decided to book for lunch at 14:30 on Wednesday. Arrived just after 2-30pm and was informed that the Kitchen was closing at 3pm! This despite the Website stating Kitchen open from 12-00 to 20-45 each weekday. Menu was not particularly extensive and we made a hurried selection for main courses and desserts. My partner received the wrong order, it was supposed to be Chicken in Katsu sauce with Jasmine rice and she received a deep fried piece of chicken in a soggy bun. Food was basic at best, no specials available and it felt similar to what you would expect at a Wetherspoons, for a bill in excess of £50 I expected a bit better quality. Will think twice about visiting for food again anytime soon."
