"Food was good, not much for service. Ate and finished my meal while my wife waited 30 minutes for her meal to come. Cups placed on table, but tea never came."

"Went for dinner after 8 years… nothing has really changed, well almost nothing. The service is still very slow, the restaurant atmosphere looks out dated and the food has gotten very expensive. How do you charge $6 plus tax plus tip for one piece of nan. The nan was not even that good. Overall the food is just ok. The alcohol price is very expensive as well.. yes the prices have gone up every where but it should be reasonable."

"Read about reviews for this restaurant and decided to try it. Now we keep going back regularly to try their dishes. Typical home cooking style. The sate skewers are average, the hokkien misua is good. The pork hock vermicelli is good. The fish cake and the oyster cakes are good. Of course you should try the singapore style hainan chicken. Also try the bah kut teh. We have yet to try their fresh fish and crab vermicelli but will soon do."

"Don't order anything except the j chicken. The pork has probably been sitting in a fridge for weeks. They gave me so much of it, probably to get rid of it. Coleslaw is extremely dry, probably also a batch made weeks before.You only get three stars for the j chicken. it's not bad. Take the pork off the menu if you can't serve it fresh. Simple as that."

"The owner (I assume) and staff were friendly, and recommended mild dishes as we have small grandkids. We tried a appetizer platter, green mango salad, roti curry beef, Indonesian fried rice, Penang Char Kuay Teow, and Singapore Laksa, and liked the roti and Char...Kuay Teow the most. Cash only plus service charge, but service was good and the place clean. Would recommend if you like Singapore-Malaysian food."

"Dined here on a Saturday evening without reservations. The restaurant was busy, but the staff accommodated our party of 9. Staff friendly but our one server was a bit confused given we had some separate orders and requested separate bills. Our group ordered lots of different dishes. Service was timely for drinks and the food was delicious. I had the chicken vindaloo and the hot spice was amazing. Everyone else really enjoyed their food too and lots of us sampled each others dishes. While dining, I could see a lot of locals were dining here too, which speaks a lot to the quality of the restaurant. We were definitely happy we chose to dine at The Host and will be back next year when we are in town. The restaurant has a buffet area but it wasn't open, that would be certainly worth a try!"
