"A year and a half ago, we were here and reported the phenomenon that this restaurant was always fully booked and rightly. Also fully booked today. We had reserved in time; By remodeling the city centre of Mettmann, it was a big problem to find a parking lot. In a living area about 600 m away I was found. But this is only temporary, guess until after the summer holidays. We got our four table again at the window, which is not bad to let some fresh air in, because it's good at the house. I can't imagine how it used to be when it was smoked in locals. Somehow unimaginable. Well, the nice, friendly service brought us the roasted thin bread slices with the homemade Aioli and asked and after the drinks wishes. I poor driver was pleased with a Krombacher alcohol-free (0.33 l to fair 2.60 , my wife chose the house wine Añoranza Cabernet Shiraz Bodegas Lozano to EUR 4.70 for 0.25 l. A good, dry, average Spanish red wine matched! Since the last time we had made the mistake with the appetizer, it was clear to us that we will only order a main dish and, if there is room, are open to something sweet. As a daily offer there was a 300 gr. Hip steak with pommes and a salad to EUR 18,90 bingo! The meat perfectly roasted, naturally medium, super well seasoned and everything without special ornaments ; during the last visit, among other things, readers of the review complained that the sauce was directly above the meat and covered it completely. This was also homemade and had earned the name My better half chose a carving again and only when it was served you fell in how big the portion is. Joh, no appetizer, that was right! Schnitzel Tyrolean style with fried onion and bacon, plus roast potatoes. The meat very thinly knocked, all in itself suitable and rustic delicious! (EUR 12,90 . Oh, I forgot at my court that there was still a salad for the steak, seasonalally an endivia potato salad, slightly warm sometimes something different... class! Before this season salad our accompanying couple swarmed and so it was decided before to order this salad as the main food with beef fillet strips. Also a very large portion. At the end of the evening we were allowed to choose a baggage, Grappa, Sherry and a Licor de bellota (Haselnusslikör at the expense of the house. Our conclusion: once again not disappointed and perfect for a nice evening with good food and very reasonable prices. But, please don't forget the reservation. There's nothing here without!"
