"My husband and I find the inn for all events, whether with man, acquaintance or relationship. I find the choice wide and so far has cost everything I have served before me. The place is full of fine and we had a great evening. I think the whole staff did a very good job there."

"The Bergklause, on Schwester-Therese Strasse, in the Kiel village-like suburb of Holtenau, is the answer to many a dream. Well-cooked basic food served at the comfort of a candle-lit table decorated with fresh flowers, but without any of the pomp associated with many more expensive...restaurants. For years, this restaurant close to the marina on the northern bank of the Kiel Canal, where it joins the Kiel Sound near the Baltic coast, has served many of its maritime visitors and would-be sailors with hugely ample portions of steak (cooked to perfection), schnitzel to cover your plate, and a selection of chips (French fries), bratkartoffeln (fried potatoes), and accompanying vegetables such as green beans, onions and pickles. Choose from an extensive menu but please note that portions are always and without exception massive. There is a passable dry red house wine, but you will probably enjoy a good glass of the German cool and satisfying beer with your meal. Waiting times vary, but you can wait in comfort at your table, where you will be either left in peace or approached by one of the colourful local characters who pop in for the conversation or a swift beer. The patron is talkative, but has little English. No matter you are guaranteed a warm welcome. Finally prices: expect to pay between and Euros per person, inclusive of a beer or two. Particularly recommended is a Friday evening, from pm until late. Guten Appetit!"

"This restaurant is small, fine and cozy. When I took a table, a nice service came to me and brought me the menu. I would have chosen one of three cheap lunches from Monday to Friday from 11:30 to 14:30. But I had appetite for one of the dishes from the standard menu. So I ordered an oven potato with sour cream, beef fillet strips and a salad dress. The waitress took my order after a short time and asked me if I wanted to have the meat medium. Besides, I could choose dressings among some different varieties. I chose American Dressing. I didn't have to wait long for my court and the waitress brought it to my table. It was as delicious as the dish looked. That was a decent part of the price. The beef fillet strips were roasted as ordered nice medium and well seasoned. The oven potato and the salad also tasted excellent. The service asked if everything had been to my satisfaction. Even after dinner, I was asked attentively whether I was satisfied. She was very attentive, although the restaurant was well visited at noon. The payment was also fast. I just say: small, fine and very tasty, one of the best steak houses in Kiel!"
