"Just arrived in Berlin and staying in the immediate area of this establishment. Everywhere else is Turkish kebab shops and the like and I fancied something a little more familiar. I should have known when I walked in what to expect. It is dingy and...downmarket and generally rough around the edges. They don’t spend a lot on decor that is for sure. I normally have a well tried and tested order. As does my wife. It has served me well for years. It let us down big time on this occasion. At this point I would like to say that I wished I had seen the cook before I ordered. It was too late by the time I had. He had more ingredients down his manky tee shirt than on his shelves. I ordered a simple onion Bhaji. It is made the world over the same. Little round mounds of batter and onion. Very tasty, or it is in of Indian curry houses. Not in this place. Onion Rings! Badly cooked and more than likely out of a bag from the local supermarket. Absolutely dreadful and barely warm in the middle. Now it takes a special kind of Indian restaurant to muck up chicken vindaloo,but they did and by a country mile). The sauce was not all that bad to be truthful, but I have no idea where that chicken had come from as it was not even the texture of chicken. At the risk of propagating a pun as well as alliteration) it was foul. Pink and rubbery as if it had come out of a tin in a roll. Made me heave just a little. I was asked if it “schmacht gut”. I lied through my teeth, not wishing an international incident as I was in such a hurry to get myself out of there. The beer was okay but they had little hand in that other than pouring. Best advice if in this area and you stumble on this place, is “don’t”. Have a kebab it will be cheaper and probably taste like one."
