"The Star of India offers excellent food. The portions are more than generous and always piping hot (and served on warmed plates no less). The hard working staff are pleasant and accommodating. This, and the cozy atmosphere, make it a place you want to revisit often. The prices are more than reasonable and the quality of the food first rate. Have never been disappointed."

"Following elogy references, we expected a kitchen superior to the menus of the many Indian watch restaurants, quite traditional and even less good than many. j admits that renovations were being carried out in the kitchen, the passage of some tools leaving the place was right of my appetite. the dish I chose from vegetables was to be at its 8th cooking.j admits to be severe, I am when m^me more than 50 years experience in the most chic restaurants to the restoration of the street."

"Please take this as a friendly warning: if you care at all about having a meal in pleasant environment, about having a friendly, non-threatening and non-violent server, most of all- if you care about having a meal that tastes good, please avoid this place at all cost. I was not initially going to write this review, because I feel for every restaurant owner out there who just made it through the challenging COVID times. But the level of rudeness and disrespect I have experienced in just 30 minutes at Jaipur Tandoori forced me to share my story, as I am sure it’s one of many. I visited Jaipur Tandoori with one of my friends on a rainy Monday in July. We scanned through the menu and were a bit disappointed that there were so few vegetarian options. But, we just biked for 30 minutes in heavy rain and were starving, so the weak selection was not going to detract us from staying. We ordered some samosas to start and informed the waiter that we had not made up our mind yet about the main dishes we would order. He came back couple of minutes later with a plate of samosas. Immediately, something felt off. The samosas smelled like they were fried in old oil, there was very little filling, and the flavour just wasn’t there. Samosas are one of the best, most comforting and delicious treats. But in front of me, was a somewhat burned pastry which filling was flavored with something resembling a vegetable cube. This kind of a surprise I would expect from a stale, gas station samosa, not a restaurant on the Plateau. My friend asked for ketchup for his samosa. The waiter seemed extremely offended, pointed at a watered-down, sad brown sauce and demanded that my friend uses it instead. While I don’t see a point of smearing ketchup on a samosa, my friend explained to me that it’s a somewhat common practice in India and he was never scolded by a server for asking for ketchup. Think fries with mayo, vinegar, ketchup. Choose your poison- his is ketchup. Moving on. Samosas were a disaster to the point we felt okay with getting wet a little more, but finding a place we can actually enjoy. We asked the server for the bill. And this is where all hell broke loose. “You said you will order more later” “It’s $20 minimum order” “You MUST order” He raised his voice at us, was red in the face, and I was honestly very concerned that he will resort to violence. Everyone in the restaurant was staring at us, and as much as I felt bad for us, I also felt sorry that their dinner was interrupted by such irrational outburst of anger. We repeatedly asked for the bill. Eventually, I just walked up to the counter, handed the server $10 for $6 worth of samosas and told him how disrespected we felt and how disappointing our stater has been. My thinking was: if he listens to my feedback, I will walk away and leave this thing in the past. Instead, he continued to talk over me and told me to get out. So instead, I am writing this review for everyone to know what kind of establishment Jaipur Tandoori really is. Afterwards, we went to H2 Hyderabad house, had two appetizers, two mains, different kinds of sides and we would have stayed for dessert too if the restaurant wasn’t closing. Go there instead, please. Save yourself some stress and enjoy amazing, authentic Indian food!"
