"We visited Gruyere yesterday and decided out of all the lovely restaurants up in the Chateau courtyard we would go to Restaurant Des Remparts for a drink and a famous fondue. What a mistake that was. It was a beautiful afternoon and we waited patiently for an outside table for 15 mins. During this time noone came to ask us what we were waiting for or inform us how long a table would be. We were just left waiting there despite staff coming out the restaurant to serve other customers seated outdoors. Finally a couple finished and hesitantly we headed to that table and sat down. A waitress came over to serve us. We asked for 1x fondue between the 4 of us (2x adults and 2x children). The waitress very rudely and loudly exasperated that we could not order one fondue between 4. We explained we had eaten a big breakfast at our hotel that morning and only wanted a taster of their famous fondue especially being that we were in the heart of Gruyère too! This time the waitress slammed down the cutlery she had bought to the table and a few minutes later another waitress came to firmly verify (so loudly that every other table turned to stare at us) we were not allowed to order one fondue between the 4 of us! 3 of us could share one but if 4 of us were to share then we had to order another one. Surely it is our right as customers to order what we want and not be forced to buy more to feed the pockets of the owner? We were so disgusted by the attitude and behaviour of these two ladies that served us we decided to just order our 4x drinks and cancel the fondue altogether. We got a loud tutting from the waitress who finally disappeared off to get our drinks. I have never written a review on Trip Advisor before this but was so enraged by the service and behaviour I feel it only right to warn others and advise you to try one of the other lovely looking restaurants there instead!"

"Not advisable, if you don't want to feel cheated. We went to enjoy a fondue, my wife, my two daughters and me. My wife can't eat fondue, so she only asks for Peach Nestea, one of my daughters didn't feel like fondue so she only asked for water, and my other daughter and I ordered a fondue for two and I ordered a Coca-Cola , After writing down the order, with some trouble making himself understood in English, and since we did not see it clearly, we asked a waiter there, who spoke Spanish, to write down for us what his partner had not done and clarify for us things. Well, he wrote down two Coca-Cola instead of one, they told this waiter who spoke Spanish, that they could give us 10CH for each one of those who were not going to eat, just for using the bench where we were sitting (at despite having ordered a drink) and of course, to all of us, we got up and showed them the surprise and amazement for paying to sit down and have a Nestea and water #bastadeabuses #elturistanoestonto #suizamerecelapena Price per person: CHF 30–40 Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1"

"Muy buena relación calidad precio, muy asequible para los precios de Suiza estando en pleno Gruyeres no es disparatado. Ensalada, roastbeef con patatas y salsa 25Fr. La salchicha muy buena con salsa de cebolla caramelizada y la kisch de gruyer muy suave. Todo en un marco incomparable en la terraza con unas vistas preciosas."

"Service 4/5 Decor 4/5 Food 0/5 Value for money 0/5 We ordered a salade paysanne supposedly with ham cheese and local sausage and I can hardly describe what we got see picture but it was really bad. Same goes for the cheese croute...which looks like it was prepared with industrial cheese. We paid 52 ch with two glasses of wine. I really had to force myself to finish my food. Service was nice though."

"It was a family lunch with visitors from abroad, we sat next to the window on the panoramic terrasse and everyone loved that. The fondue was good (but have had better in the region around) and the deserts excellent. So this is a good restaurant...for a touristic place, I recommend it."

"The worst restaurant I ate in in Switzerland... Although well noted we had trusted the Google reviews but nothing was going well.. We had booked for 7 people and we had shared dishes that were tasteless and expensive! I took a mixed grill and the meat had no taste, no accompaniment except a large quantity of sauces. The only thing we remembered was the “le fou du roi” beer which we took because there was no draft beer on sale. Very disappointed !"
