"We were hard pressed to find a local place to eat lunch in Marathon. We finally found classic coffee in a small mall that had seen better days. I ordered the soup of the day with a turkey sandwich. The soup was ok but the sandwich was a surprise, some dry sliced turkey breast between two slices of white loaf bread. I am 70 years old and have never had a sandwich like that in a restaurant."

"On our trip east on the TransCanada highway, there is often an over abundance of fast food brands. We read about this small independent restaurant in the Marathon Mall, a very few km. off the highway. We had the soup(choice of 2) and sandwich(choice of 4 or 5 on choice of 3 breads, toasted or plain) special. The soups smelled very good, and tasted even better. The sandwiches were very fresh and tasty. The service was excellent and price reasonable. I was even allowed to sit at a table where I could plug in to recharge my Ipod. The decor is intriguing with elephant theme paintings and sculptures everywhere. Well worth the small trip off the highway."
