"The Derby is an institution in Mt. Airy, but I just started coming here last year as my trips take me to the area weekly. I don't have the menu as well as maybe also because the lunch specialties here (especially on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) absolutely rule. My way here (on Tuesday) are the baked ham (the best ever) and three vegetables, or the chopped steak with the choice of potato and salad (I replace a vegetables) with Texas toast, and on Wednesday they have everything you can eat fried Flounder special, the absolutely rocks. If you love fried fish, you will love it, and it is the same bread they use for their award-winning fried chicken, which is also good, but you need to allow for twenty minutes before the time so if you are in a hurry, order the fish. Also they have a wide range of pages available, I usually get the picked beets, and the fried squash is dynamite along with the fried Okra. I also love macaroni with tomatoes, and not least macaroni and cheese. In addition, the service is usually good, even if it is busy, and prices simply cannot be beaten."

"We have eaten here many times. We haven?t been lately due to work schedule plus we drive about 30 miles one way. We were in about 3 weeks ago and ordered the ribs and shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits came out cold and my ribs seemed old and dry.Sent grits back and they microwaved it I believe. It was just gummy and inedible. Told server and he asked if we would like to talk to the manager. We said yes but never saw her. She took the shrimp and grits off the bill, but I felt like she didn?t want to fool with us. We used to eat there every Sunday but won?t be returning. It?s a shame, used to be great food."

"Yesterday 07/19/19 at 17:15 o'clock. we sat and went to the buffet. we put food on our teller and went back to our table immediately, as we were very hungry. everything was cold. I ask you to talk to the manager and they didn't really want to send one to our table. then this young girl appears and she has barely spoken English or understood when I tried to explain that all the food was cold. then she disappears and 5 minutes later came the so-called big boss. I explained what's going on and that we want to have hot food. when she was close to the table, she could hardly understand and offer to heat our food in the microwave. I said no to her and we wanted to eat fresh. I also made her aware that eating has to be kept at 140 degrees and it was far away from this temp. her saliva landed on my poor and in my suppe, the only hot thing on the buffet, as it has been eating there since midday, that is and we would not recommend this restaurant."

"Food and service are great! We stumbled in such a great place. I recommend the Metzgerburger! A cowburger with pulled pork, bacon, pepper jacket and barb queen sauce. I had potato salad as my side! Double D delicious!"

"Service was great. The food was so delicious. The cook (I'm guessing he was also the owner) came out twice to ask if the food was to our liking. They gave us both sweet and tangy sauces to choose from. I liked the sweet and my friends preferred the tangy. Loved the fried squash and hushpuppies. My friends loved the red potatoes in the potato salad. I highly recommend this place! If you're still hungry afterwards.. they also serve ice cream!"

"You checked the rolls for milk for my wife and son, both of whom have a milk allergy. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and the prices were not bad at all. Loved the roast beef with potatoes and gravy over Texas toast. Will definitely eat again. Thanks for having appreciated the friendly service and good food."
