"I ordered fresh oysters, crab cakes and seafood linguine. They are all delicious and well presented. The sauce for the crab cakes was amazing and I liked it very much. The prices are reasonable in terms of the portion and quality."

"I went in with friends and it was not the same. No pictures of Brian Kilrea and of VIPs who had been eating there previously. Not a big crowd at dinner and the waitress was not smiling and helpful. Totally different atmosphere."

"Very disappointingI used to come here last year since it was in proximity of my workplace to order quick food for take out. Before the food was good quality. Today I ordered a roti for take out and I called 15 minutes ahead of time. I arrived there my food was still not ready, and the server tells me there is no plantain because the cook already left. They should always be making enough this is unacceptable as that was the side to my platter. I was dissapointed since that is what i enjoy eating. I then take my meal and leave. Upon arrival to work i start eating and see that there is rice in my roti. I called the store to ask why this was so, and they told me they most likely put rice in my roti because there was no potatoes left. I asked him why no one advised me of such matter when I was making the order because I would of never purchased it. He could not give me a resolution or a solution. I am extremely disgusted by this restaurant especially being a previous customer. Horrible do not recommend and I will be calling the manager to complain."

"The steak was served with frozen veggies and for some reasons a pickle. The mushrooms were strangely dry. One of the escargot slots did not even have a snail but mushroom and were not garlicky at all. The food also came out too fast, we were still eating appetizers when the next course came out. And the guy showing people to tables kept wanting to sit people at the most undesirable table without offering a booth even though the restaurant was pretty empty. This is the first negative comment I have ever given a restaurant."

"It's been a while since we dined at Al's and it was nice to see it had been renovated. Our staff were friendly and attentive and the food was good. The escargot arrived nice and hot with a nice layer of cheese on top; the rolls were warm and fresh. For the main course the 6 oz. filet was chosen and it was a bit under cooked - I asked for medium rare but t was a little on the rare side. The accompanying salad was nice and fresh and Al's salad dressing is always a hit with me. Will definitely go back."

"Love Whalesbone Oysters probably the best you can get in the city. The Bank Street location is, however, cramped, and they only do reservations for tables on weekends. Seating at the bar is an option although it is also very limited. The place has a hipster, NYC SoHo restaurant kind of vibe to it. Music is played on a record player. There is a single row of tables, right next to the bar, where you can easily see oysters being shucked right in front of you. Even though I prefer the Elgin location, the quality of the food doesn't differ between the two. My friends and I were lucky to get a table on a Friday without a reservation. We split the 18 oysters (the beach gems from BC are my favourite! , clam chowder and mussels. Worth every penny for what we got. Definitely a splurge, but you won't regret it."

"One of the best meals I had while in Ottawa. If you are seeking a talented chef among Canada's capital, come here. Walking in, it definitely feels like someone's home hosting a fancy banquet. The tequila infused salmon doesn't sound appealing, but it will be once you see it. Excellent plating, to the point where it almost feels like wimmelholden up close. The tequila offers a unique flavor to the fresh, and clearly vocal salmon flavor. All the little details stand out and uphold the dish, from the earthy radish, the jalapeño powder, down to the crunchy quinoa. The cream is the first chair solo violinist that truly makes everything pop. The only complaint I have is you have to consciously pick out all the ingredients on the fork for the full experience. It's quite easy to eat the piece lop sided, whether too much or too little or anything. The chicken éclair might as well be called the chicken éclair sandwich. I was envisioning a stuffed éclair, but it's much better as an open face sandwich with the top piece separate. The chicken was moist, still had some texture to chew on, and had a bold, sweet, low toned profile. The bread and butter pickles help cut through with some refreshing high notes. The dots of cream on the side didn't seem enough, but I still managed without a lot of cream. The éclair itself takes on a new perspective as A savory dish. It's something I'm surprised more chefs have adopted. Maybe it's the chili powder, but I couldn't help that bling this was an elevated sloppy joe. I still enjoyed this dish, but there's a tinge of nostalgia that lingers with every bite for me. The lamb shank is satisfying alone, but the addition of lime aioli and apple chutney make this a standout dish. The best way I can describe this dish is by thinking about the lamb, encapsulated by the chutney, and then encapsulated by the lime aioli. Perhaps the fat of the lamb conjures spherical worlds of flavor, orbiting around the gravitation of my tongue. Make sure you check the perimeter of the plate, as there are different levels of presence for the sauce. One pile is huge, while another is much smaller but not tucked under the meat. The spinach polenta block of whatever that was on the side was crap. The main spice stood out way too much. I took two bites and stopped eating it. The banoffee was a great dessert. But there are some things that I should mention. There isn't any toffee crunch in this and The whipped cream to filling ratio is 3:1. Otherwise, I was quite pleased with the results. Definitely, a European sweet dessert that's never too sweet. The banana is mixed in, but I can't help to feel it sits in the higher registry than the lower registry. The graham crust is delightfully chewy and gooey. The toffee provides most of the low tones in pudding filling form. Although the chocolate is a side counterpart in the profile, it does a surprising amount, dancing around the banana and toffee flavors. The whipped cream was good, but it could have been just a tad creamier in the taste profile. I love that they offer half orders on this pie. Even with some flaws, this place is still one of the best places to eat during my visit. Some other fancy establishments dont even come close to this place. from start to finish, there was not a single dish that was a dud."
