"Very good restaurant in Riquewihr, good dishes from the terroir, decoration museum of the trades of the vineyard of old times that goes very well from the context. We really enjoyed it. the black pino in pichet is simply delicious, as I love it anyway, so much so I asked the boss his supplier that is in the nearby village."

"Wonderful restaurant! We looked for vegetarian food and found this hidden gem. The staff was extremely welcoming and attentive, and the food was delicious. We went once and were so pleased we came back again before we left the area. Warmly recommended."

"French cuisine at the highest level, wine maps (sic! in which you could read for hours, but the selected wine guide to the 5, 7 or 9 courses menu is excellent, as well as friendly and fast service, which also cuddles back and forth under the low bars. The food is a poem of garden creations paired with fish and meat of the highest quality. The preparation and presentation is inimitable, delicious and stylish. This is all in a great ambience of historical Celts and modern, bold design. The operating sibling couple and the married Somelier have fully grasped this great place and shape it with Alsatian hospitality from the Allerfeinsten."

"When I last visited the Caveau in 2009, it was owned by different people and was much more in the higher end, steak frites/local cuisine, model. It is a very different place now and I have to say that I like it. Previously, the restaurant was very dark and now it is well lit and inviting. It is now a much more casual place locals were there in shorts, etc. There are now lighter menu options and a lot of pizza choices, focusing on the local version, flammkuchen. Steak frites is gone but the local specialties are still here. And they are also very good. As has been previously stated in reviews, English was not spoken here the night I visited. Neither was Alsatian. This could have have been a deal breaker, as I can understand some French but my accent is embarrassing to all involved. But the waiter invited me in speaking French and seated me with a German/English menu. I ordered two traditional items, Ham and Gruyère Salad and the choucroute garni sour kraut with 5 kinds of sausage and smoked pork with a flask of the local Riesling. Very old school. Despite the German/English menu, I ordered the items by their Alsatian names which elicited a short snort from the young waiter.I wasn 't sure what that was going to translate into. But the food arrived quickly and the service was great. Just as I elected to receive the check, a number of people came into the restaurant and sat down. The waiter acknowledged my request and I could tell by the look on his face I might not get my check right away. He came back out of the kitchen and placed a small glass snifter in front of me and explained to me in French that the item was on the house. He then went to seat the people who had just come in. The snifter held a serving of ice cold marc de Gewurztraminer. This is a grappa like liquor made from the skins of the local Gewurztraminer grape after they are pressed for wine. And it doesn 't get any more old school Alsace. Someone who ordered what I had for dinner would clearly appreciate this. By the time I was finished with my after dinner drink, the new crowd was seated and had their orders taken and I could now pay. I greatly appreciated the young waiter 's thoughtfulness not only inviting in a non French speaker, but also in comping me as he got busy and the empathy in bringing the old dude something very traditional. And the food was very good."

"Situated on the Main Street in Riquewihr with seating outside, you can see why it would be popular. Inside was dark and cave like, so decided to sit outside even though it was chilly. The onion soup was extremely poor. Consisted of a stock cube like fluid with small bits of hard white onion in it, served with a bowl of what looked like packet croutons, which I didn't even try. The terrine was very gamely but had a reasonable salad with it. The snails were tasteless, as was the oil they had been cooked in. Cafe au lait was served in a chipped mug with the milk already in it far too much. Was like a hot milk with a tiny amount of poor quality instant coffee. Left it, but no comment by the waitress. Total waste of money."
