"The food here was just ok. Took them 3 tries to properly cook my eggs. The staff is friendly however there are much better breakfast location in Valleyfield."

"Small and cozy. Great potions healthy food options. From sea to land offering. Opened Sept 2015 and we visited on a Tuesday evening. Very busy. Recommend calling to reserve, even during the week. Noteworthy....no water served with meal."

"PROS:This former Presbyterian century-old church was renovated by the previous owners. (See my photos) The charm still remains. You walk in through exposed stone walls and are met by a staircase under which water runs continuously. Looking up you look straight into the former sanctuary and a very airy eating area on two levels. Looking down, you have a cozy basement area with restored church pews as booths. A friend and I ate in the upper level. The wood stairs, beams, original window shapes were all kept. The place was busy when we were there, with young and old alike. The menu has at least 15 types of "gourmet" poutine (Quebec favourite = french fries, sauce and cheese). I ordered the blue cheese poutine, and my friend ordered the pulled pork poutine. They were meal-size!The menu also has gourmet hamburgers, pasta, munchy appetizers like mozzarella sticks, potato skins, salads etc. This would be the type of place to go with friends, have a drink and munch, celebrate a family birthday. Service was friendly, attentive and perfectly bilingual (French, English). The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. Even the bathroom had an antique dresser as its sink counter. CONS:There were not many things to complain about except the pulled pork poutine did not have as much pulled pork as I have seen in other restaurants. My friend commented "you had to go looking for it", but it was tasty. One last "con" is there is only one bathroom for the entire restaurant and it is unisex. I don't enjoy sitting next to a urinal, but I can understand they did the best with the space they had.VERDICT:We would not hesitate to go back or recommend it to friends / family. Just sitting in the old stone church was worth going."

Wow!"

"Specifically asked what dressing came on the sub. Was told vinegrette...got a goopy pink mayonnaise type of sauce. Not helpful when I called back. Price was reasonable however and the sub looks good if you enjoy a 1000 islands type of dressing. Just not what was ordered. Wish the response was handled more professionally."

"Ende september we drove to valleyfield, quebec and went along the canal. it is always difficult to find information about restaurants in valleyfield. I read about le local on a few web pages, but the restaurant/café itself has no website. we. found it without difficulty and entered a well-maintained, bright, squeaking, inviting space that is both a restaurant/café and a gourmet food business. the staff was very friendly and helpful. the menu is small and for lunch were almost all sandwiches and an salad option. the sandwiches included thunfischsalat, asian chicken salad, sink and cheese, chevre and caramelized wobble, vegetarian of the day, and a pale the salat option was brokkoli with cheese and cranberries. we tried the thunfish salad and the locally healed ham and cheddarsandwiches. both were good. the Broccoli salad was served as a side with each sandwich and it was excellent. the broccoli was very fresh and sat with a light Mayo type dressing. we both had a variation of tiramisu for dessert. it was the traditional sweet Mascarpone cheese over a layer of local strawberries. it was very delicious. we had both cappuccinos, which were excellent and beautifully served in dishes. in the restaurant there is a large selection of gourmet products, including pasta from italia, olive oil from italia and france, a large selection of edgy, homemade chutneys, loose tee and formaggio parmigiano reggiano. there was also a limited selection of handmade porcelain. we bought a very pretty olive dish of the artist stephanie paquet. we look forward to a new visit."
