"You would think service would not be that great when you walk in but they real warm up once you get to know them. Menu Food is always great. Specials are interesting, sometime not but fine. "Every year, we go to the Shaw Festival for 2 or 3 days and stay in a B&B in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This time we decided to book a B&B in Saint Catharines, 20km away. We always look for Asian restaurants wherever we go (we are from Vietnam's descent), and NOTL has none of it.After searching on the Internet, we found this new joint and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. This is a family restaurant. The owner came from North York (Toronto) not long ago. The menu contains most of the typical dishes one can find in Toronto, and this one has a large variety of Pho for everyone's taste. Their Pho is well done, with a broth that has the real taste of Vietnamese Pho. But they also have other Vietnamese specialties that are quite well made. We tried several of them and were very pleased with it each time . From the outside, the restaurant may not present a nice look (don't let yourself being deceived by the appearance of the building exterior), but the inside is spacious, with 2 adjacent rooms and a bar; it's clean and well maintained (including the kitchen that one can see from the room) compared to other Vietnamese joints, even in Toronto. The service is welcoming and polite.We decided to come back after the first day, and we ended up eating there every day (3 days), including buying some take away that we brought to Niagara-on-the-Lake for a picnic before the show at 2pm.We'll be back next year, even if we do not stay in a B&B in St Catharines.Highly recommended !"

"My family has been going to eat at China Emerald Buffet since they were in their original location.Placed a Take-Out order for Shanghai/Singapore Noodles. I thought that I made it clear that I wanted one slightly spicy, and the other with the normal amount they use.I took them home, and discovered that they were inedible. They were SO hot, and marked on the lid, it said EXTRA SPICY. I didn't order extra spicy.Something was lost in the translation, but I had to drive back and return them after a long, tiring day, and both the waitress and owner (?) were argumentative and I considered them to be rude. I paid by debit, and they gave me $20.00 cash back. My family supports local business before large companies or corporations, and this was a real disappointing end to our patronage at China Emerald.My experience is hopefully an isolated one, and not an indication of how things run most times, but you'll have to see for yourself, because I will not and have not gone back."

"Authentic Greek cuisine featured on 'You Gotta Eat Here '. We were greeted by friendly smiling staff who sat us promptly. Ordered the Tzatziki starter. Home made, fresh dip with garlic bread. Fresh cucumber with just the right amount of garlic however I wish they had strained the cucumber a little more as the dip was a tiny bit too watery. With that said, the freshness made up for it. We ordered the Gyro plate and the shrimp plate as our mains. Both plates came with a healthy portion of meat, potatoes, rice, pita, and an orange wedge with a small container of Tzatziki. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The gyro was a bit dry and too salty for my liking but was still enjoyable. To be honest, I think I got the outer crust of a new batch. Potatoes were excellent. Rice was fantastic. Pita should have been served on the side but was buried between the meat and rice. The orange wedge didn 't quite understand that. Geometrically, the presentation was a little lopsided but who cares. It tasted good enough. The restaurant was clean, busy and authentic. The staff were super friendly and responsive. The service was excellent in my opinion. Would definitely repeat if we were in the area."
