"I grew up in South East Asia, so finding authentic food can be tricky- Pepper leaf meets all my expectations! On our last visit we enjoyed the hawker style noodles, delicious. My very favourite is the sticky rice, I've not found anywhere in Sa that can do this dish justice except here. Sometimes I just pop in just to get this dish."

"My husband and I sat down with our 11 month old son. Had about 6 staff walk past, none offering a highchair. I then went to another table to get a highchair after guests left and clean it myself. We then waited 45 minutes for loaded fries which we received after my husband went asked asked about our food as the table behind us, who arrived 10 minutes after us had received their mains. The waiter brought out our fries and pretty much threw them on the table and walked off with no sorry or explanation on how far away our mains are or before we could even ask! Loaded fries looked like they were just thrown together with soggy chips covered in a very watery cheese sauce and some diced bacon. We then waited another 25 minutes for our mains (by this time our son was cracking it!!!), which we received at the same time as the table of 10 next to us who arrived half an hour after us. The schnitzel was burnt with minimal sauce, the prawns were like mush, the salt and pepper squid was all stuck together in a big chunk, the only good part about the seafood plate was the fish but that was unfortunately covered in the thickest and flavourless batter I've ever seen! We will definitely not be going here again!! Such a shame they spent so much money re-doing the place which looks great but the service and food are such a massive let down."

"Each year half a dozen couples get together to celebrate our Birthdays which are in May. Mangosteens was chosen this year which presented us with a great selection of food. We ordered 8 entrees and 10 mains and 4 deserts plus coffee, all servings were...delicious and of a generous size. The only down side of the night was that the venue its self was cold and uncomfortable also as we left one of our group request a glass of WATER only to be told We are now closing"

"Came her on a recommendation to visit Tea Gardens and have a 'cone of fish n chips'. It's an hour on a ferry from Nelson Bay. The tea gardens hotel (please don't think romantic setting) is an old pub that doesn't look like it's had a face lift in many years. The dining areas are shabby.The $11 cones are too big as a single serve. We shared 2 between 3 and didn't finish. The fish was good, the chips nothing to write home about. If volume is your thing, you'll probably like it more than we did. Wish we had gone up the road for lunch instead."
