"I walked to the now closed railway station at Vila Real to see if I could have lunch in a restaurant close by which was listed here on Tripadvisor. That restaurant did not look as if it was open for lunch and, anyway, it looked a bit upmarket for me. Instead, I went in "Restaurante Meia Laranja" just across a side road, asked for the menu and ordered my meal. I had just arrived in Vila Real and had forgotten all the Portuguese that I had ever learned (back in the 1990s), but I ordered steak OK. That was an excellent choice. The portion of steak that I was served was huge, and came with potatoes, rice and a bit of salad.This is a restaurant worth looking for if you are in Vila Real."

"Best atmosphere in the most perfect setting. If there is a boutique restaurant I would highly recommend is this one! There terrace is a little oasis in the middle of the town. Food is superb. Great platting too."

"We were lucky enough to be around when the low cost menu was available to have such a delightful experience. There's an offer of 15€ menu that includes starter, main dish, dessert and drink, which is only available during the first week of every month. There were a few options for every type of a meal and a main dish could have meat, fish or be vegetarian. First of all, I would like to point out perfect service, staff is friendly, but calm, quiet and attentive at the same time. The presentation of dishes was pleasing to the eye especially for someone who's more used to simple traditional portuguese dishes. All of the meals were delicious and rather light than filling and although the dishes looked traditional, all had an interesting twist to them. The atmosphere inside is also a big plus, spacious and elegantly decorated, but still simple design. The only downside for me was a slightly uncomfortable proximity to other visitors while dining. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian dishes available, but since this restaurant's specialty is traditional cuisine, the ingredients used are simple. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €10–15"
