"While on a Viking Cruise on the Rhine, we docked in Basel for a day town tour and asked our local guide for a recommendation for lunch. She led us to 1777 and told us that the food was great. We did as she suggested and had a wonderful lunch—for me, a cheese and ham sandwich on a baguette and a bowl of chestnut soup—my first chestnut soup. It was wonderful! The service was great, the lunch atmosphere was relaxed with business types and young mothers with their children dining. I wholeheartedly recommend 1777 to you and encourage you to try the chestnut soup. It was so good that I went searching for recipes so that I can try to make it when I get back to the US."

"My daughter's friends had dinner yesterday and were treated very badly by the staff and with respect. Among several mistakes, although they were asked for small portions, they were served the big portions (without realizing) and the waiter insisted that they pay the large part price and sarcastically accused them not to have enough money. Terrible and unacceptable behavior never again."

"Florentine, our waitress was incredible with perfect English. our table was next to a log fire with settees on two sides. the place was full of laughing and cheering. we had high expectations, because there should be a work function and I phoned specifically to ask if I could bring a coop vegan fondue to not feel left out. I was told that the chef works on a recipe. the work function was canceled because of covid and so my man and I tried it. we were blown away. the texture and taste were shockingly good. we started with an orange, ingwer and suppengöttin. salat as second cure with delicious vegan dressing. the selection of fondues was simple, truffle and chili. it is eating all they want and since the fondue Cashew nuts based there was no saturated fat. what? healthy fondue?! go there, but book them months in advance if they want a Friday or Saturday. the restaurant is only opened in winter so perfect after skiing. the ambiente is as much as a "pre ski chalet." there were large and small groups such a real mix. two birthdays were so happy last night. a certain of daniel and me."

"This was a pleasant little find during a hectic train ride filled day. There is a counter to order a sandwich or slice of pizza from the train station but there is also a quieter small dining area inside.Our waiter was kind enough to let us sit inside while we finished our pizza and sandwich. The food was good and filling. Our waiter was accommodating without being intrusive. We enjoyed the short break. If you are in the train station, are hungry and have a bit of time I recommend taking your meal break here."
