"Ambiance is fine, it's a small place, and the ventilation could definitely use some work. I dine here often, and I swear that I smell like smoke every time I leave. Sanitation has also become a concern for me recently, as during my most recent return back in December of 2018, there was a small cockroach on my table. As for service, it tends to get rather slow. I've come to expect my food to come out after 30 minutes or so, and only really go here if I have an hour or two for lunch. Food is cheap, and you get your money's worth. I often go for the chicken karaage with rice, which is three sticks of deep-fried chicken served with a small bit of sauce and rice. Not the best, but it gets the...read more"

"Luz cafe, the restaurant is set in a colonial building which provides a laid back ambience. The restaurant is clean and there are good standards of hygiene. The food itself was however variable, when I had the fish in a garlic sauce it was delicious, however on the following night when I had a prawn salad the prawns were overcooked and a bit rubbery. The restaurant also does not have a license so alcohol is unavailable.

Really good food in a very small, charming cafe. No wine or beer, but they produced a bottle for us from the restaurant next door!"

"Their ensaymada is the best ever! Really! Chicken caesar is good too. I like the ambiance coz it's quiet, but not the deafening silence type. There's the hotel lobby background music playing. Perfect for business meetings or 'Me time'."

"Oishi food in serving sizes good for two hospital-weary persons. The place is brightly-lit, with Japanese TV shows in the background, and A Japanese chef working alongside his Filipino staff. Service is friendly and efficient. Will definitely return."

"Food: 3/5. They have a modest selction of beers and cocktails. We tried their nachos, which were average.

Service: 4/5. The employees were fast and polite.

Ambiance: 4/5. The place is a bit smoky, and there is videoke (often with tipsy, off-key patrons). There's also a semi-VIP area with a couch and a modicum of privacy.

Parking: 3/5. You can park at the street. I assume it would be more difficult to park during fridays and weekends."

"We ordered:
Dong Ting Premium Tea = 262
*It was very refreshing to start our meal
with this tea. The taste is light and earthy.
We got this tea in a pot which is refillable
but the pot is too small for a group of three.
I think the pot is only good for 200ml which
is a little bit bigger with our tea cup so it
cant even fill 3 cups but it was okay. ????

Deep Fried Spring Roll with Shrimp = 210
*Not too oily for a deep fried. Still moist
inside which indicates of it's freshness.
Taste is incomparable with local Chinese
Spring roll. ????

Har Gao Steamed Dumplings = 218
Steamed Sio Mai Crab Meat = 220
*both are nose catcher! And the taste is
exactly what the name says. We actually
ordered for 5 different dim sums which
others I couldnt recall the names and all
of them are worth the price. ????

Bouillon Dumpling Soup w/ Crab Meat = 518
*The taste is actually bizarre coz I haven't
encountered such soup. The server
recommended to add some vinegar to
elevate the taste and he's right, the taste
completely transformed to A class soup.
Definitely my favorite. ????

We had a bunch of dessert which I couldnt recall their names lol. Two desserts captured
my memory like the cold soup with fresh coconut and papaya, also the sweet steamed
bun. ????????????

The ambiance is really Chinese I must say, we are the only non-chinese guests at that moment. The place is not crowded and the diners were all for a serious good food. To avoid intimidation might as well put on some business casual attire.

"

"Purple Yam Manila is a culinary vision of Romy Dorotan and Amy Besa. This power couple is behind NYC's Cendrillon (SoHo) and Purple Yam (Brooklyn). They also authored "Memories of Philippine Kitchen" which summarizes their reflection in Philippine food culture, its flavors and tastes.

No wonder Purple Yam Manila would be an expression of their deep love of the cultural heritage in terms of Filipino cuisine.

Their menu costs P2,500 per person and when you go through their degustation menu (with some chit-chat with Amy), you would realize all of it is worth it.

We started out with an "amuse bouche" of popcorn with dried fish and roasted garlic. Then cheese tart with Malagos Farm Rustica cheese and kesong puti from Sta. Cruz Laguna. The pastry shell was flaky and buttery. The cheese tart was served with fresh guava compote.

Next was Kinagang, a Sorsogon "tamale" with shrimps and crabmeat on a bed of buko *& lukadon all wrapped in banana leaf. Then served was... read more"

"This is the cheapest unli-korean bbq grill place I've ever tried and it did not disappoint at all!

All kinds of meat were flavorful along with the side dishes. The meat servings were generous so a little reminder that they have a policy to finish everything before leaving. ????

They also had a tv playing kpop mvs so my heart was fluttering the entire time we ate here ????

The first problem we had is service, though it's a bit understandable because of customers' unending demands. Second was the smoke from the grill of the table beside us but I guess it's just bad luck, because the customers after them weren't that bad.

I definitely would come back here next time I crave for samgyupsal and I'm in a budget (which is like always)!"
