"My friend and I went to this restaurant after recommendation from the hotel we were staying. The food is good but I am disappointed about the choice of drinks. One is expecting in a country such as Germany to find more than one simple Pils in a menu. Such a shame."

"We always enjoy popping into this establishment when visiting Cologne as it's so near to our hotel. Its the oldest "brauhaus" in Cologne and is a lot bigger than you think. It seems to be busy every night of the week and is popular with the locals. The food is good - traditional German and plenty of it. It also has a bowling alley which is very popular. We enjoy sitting at the bar and watching the barman who is very skilled in keeping up with the demand for Kolsche beer. A word of warning - when you have finished drinking be sure to place the coaster on top of your glass otherwise it will keep being refilled as is customary in Cologne!"

"Visited today as we had heard the beer and food were good. What a disappointment, very few beers on offer, they said they had sold out of the one my partner wanted. The waitress was neither friendly or helpful. We decided to try the schnitzel...to eat. My partner ordered the schnitzel with 2 fried eggs. The eggs had been cooked for so long that the white was black underneath and the yolk was solid, the schnitzel had also been overcooked and was very dark and dry, cooked previously and reheated in a microwave, the chips were not freshly cooked either. I ordered schnitzel with a mushroom sauce, the sauce was extremely salty and not very pleasant to eat. We asked for vinegar for our chips and were told they had never heard of it. We could barely eat any of our food, if we had been in England we would have certainly sent it back. We decided to pay our bill and leave. As we paid the waitress the exact money she very rudely told us that service was not included, we told her we had no intention of paying a service charge, she should have realised why when she looked at our full plates! Probably one of the the worst meals we have ever had. I have given it 1 star, zero star would be more appropriate, avoid this place at all costs."

"As useless English tourists, our German was awful but the staff were very helpful and spoke to us in very good English and recommended dishes for us to eat as we don’t eat meat. They also explained German etiquette so we wouldn’t be caught out...for the rest of our trip. The food was delicious, would highly recommend"

"This butcher looks very inconspicuous from the outside. Inside it offers a wide range of soups and hot dishes (also to take away), as well as daily changing lunch table. Perfect for a quick lunch break at a small price!"
