"PUBLIC TIMES: every day 11 a.m. (Küche: 11.30 22 a.m. (0214 500 67 31 Leverkusen has not exactly the reputation of being a gourmet castle. But if we spend a whole day in town, we're still looking for an address for lunch. We have found some addresses that have enabled a pleasant lunch, for example in Opladen. But there have been fewer locals so far. That's why we opened the search for other restaurants. We are always open to new impressions: Who dares not win it. The “Herkenrath Hof” in Schlebusch noticed us. It is open daily and also offers a lunch table. The homepage promises: “With us you can enjoy the Rhenish cuisine. Modern, sometimes very traditional and always prepared from fresh market ingredients from the region.” These statements correspond to our wishes and ideas for a solid inn: regional, seasonal and fresh. Such a place by phone. Ambiente 3 The restaurant is located in the pedestrian area, near the stop Schlebusch Post. An entrance leads to the courtyard and the entrance. Behind the door we saw the counter on the right side and a staircase to the toilets and other places. On the left we could see the buffet directly. An employee showed us our table. The restaurant was very well visited by individual guests to couples to whole groups. Good to have reserved. There were other places and enthusiastic voices from other visitors. The room is little furnished. On the walls some pictures and some subtle Christmas decorations at different places. The floor is made of bright laminate (I am allowed. The tables are brown and have a washable plate. The chairs are in the same color and are very comfortable. Cleanliness 3 The guest room worked well. The toilet is on the first floor and can be reached via an open staircase. The equipment is tidy. The rooms are clean. Service 3 Several young ladies and gentlemen took care of the numerous guests. Many had chosen the buffet. Some tables also received additional dishes from the map. Other customers had also ordered the daily dish. The forces were friendly and fulfilled the wishes – at the beginning relatively fast, later somewhat hesitant (further drinks, cleaning of used dishes. There are several offers: menu, menu, wine card. The dishes can be read on the internet. The width convinces. There are panhas, sour roasts, salads or steaks and a children's plate. Also vegetarian and vegan plates can be ordered. The lunch buffet is presented: “A soup, various appetizers, five main courses and our dessert courses are available from Monday to Friday. Best kitchen at a fair price of 8.90 € per person.” The tasting We decided immediately for the buffet; for it seemed to us cheap in price and yet diverse. The appetizers looked good. ANNEX The leaf salads were fresh and crisp. Feldsalat and Rucola also had a good color. You could be dressed with sauces. Several salads were also ready; small tomato pieces were, for example, well incorporated. We served as a priority, and we had taste. The best way toast Hawaii, on a sandwich was ham, cheese, pineapple baked and between the layers was a reddish paste which was very good to the ingredients. Similarly, no pieces like a pizza were quite delicious. A piece of pork rolled up on the inside with a sauce and some rocket leaves like an involtini, have also convinced. In the main courts we had less joy or overgrown impressions (2 to 4). They were in warm-up containers with lids (that was something unhandy in use because the caps would have to be placed on the other pots. The chicken was well cooked and juicy. The sauce fits well with the breastpiece. The pork roast pieces were aromatic and soft. However, the chopped frying was dry and fried. The pieces broke in contact with the meat pliers and had to be moved to the plate as a puzzle. A kind of eggshell was a bit sticky, but quite typical in taste. The vegetarian dish was unfortunately completely boiled in my eyes, because the components were overgart and already collapsed. The noodles were still in the penne form, but very soft. The pieces of potatoes were shiny and, in my opinion, were happy. The rice was relatively dry – but for us the only supplement that appeared to us “similar”. The vegetables were also grown: The rose cabbage was dark brown and very soft. It wasn't much better for the Broccoli. But the paprika pieces had kept their color and were good. At dessert (3 three different filled bowls were ready: in a glass was a white mass with brown crowning. The relatively firm cream was, in my opinion, a spicy quark with perhaps fresh cheese. Above it could have been crystalline caramel sugar. This composition has cost us best from the selection. In a porcelain vessel was a white cream with marinated plum pieces. The mass usually tasted after eating. The plums were delicious. The third offer was a light brown chocolate. He was not solid, but also not creamy. The dark fruit pieces on it could not convince any drinks Ganser Kölsch (0.2 l 1.50 € This beer was brewed earlier in Leverkusen and is no longer available in many restaurants. It tasted quite typical of Kölsch and was well tempered. Apollinaris (0,75 l – 5,70 € Result After our visit at noon, I feel the inn as a “bourgeoise” answer to the “Asian” buffets everywhere in the country. The food didn't convince us in all parts tastefully, but the price for the dishes I didn't really high. One would like to think that, among other things, companies such as Bayer, who, in addition to many employees and employees, also have many scientists and seniors, should also provide enough breeding ground for ambitious kitchens. But – these people are likely to live (all not in this city, but in the surroundings like some Cologne suburbs, Odenthal or Bensberg. And there are also the locals. But as we have some connections to the Leverkusen and especially to Opladen, we always come to the area. Exterior area And there are many restaurants without, but remains on site. There's a lot to try. Maybe there are treasures. But sometimes it's enough for hunger to just settle. But the restaurant must have opened at noon; because we want to go home without problems with the bus. A new appointment led us to the city centre this time. After dinner, something was the plan. There were many possibilities in the search for a circle; our choice fell to the “Mexical” area of Dos Y Dos Restaurante y Bar Mexicano. Our expectations were not particularly high – only to get satisfied was the goal. Something curiosity about the kitchen can of course not hurt. Ambiente The restaurant has an outdoor area that is safe in good weather. Inside it is a lot of space. First you see the big counter. There are bar stools and also some high tables. In the rest, however, many are usually high wooden tables and robust, heavy, comfortable armchairs. The tables are very close together. A further seating area is also connected. Brown tones form furniture and walls. Theke and Barzone The light is dark, but you can see his food. The interior is very close to me. If all places were occupied, it would have to be loud, because the tables are right next to each other. The restaurant was not full at noon, but well visited in my eyes. So a conversation at the table was good to lead because the guests were able to choose their place freely and sought distance among themselves. Place for two cleanliness As far as I could see, everything was well maintained. The toilets were even positively noticed: disinfectants stand or hang ready and are easy to handle. The water flows through a light barrier. Only the soap dispenser must be operated with the finger. Small towels are available in large quantities. All areas are kept spacious. Service The two forces worked with rest and routine and are non-binding friendly. That's okay – but not anymore. The map(s) The offer is extensive. – The focus is on Tex Mex: like Fajitas, Tacos, Burritos, Enchiladas. However, there are also some additional lunches (values below 10 euros per offer). The beverage card is even more extensive – suitable for the bar character of the house. I liked the Fajita offers on the homepage. My wife chose chickens. Fajita is a dish that originally consisted of grilled and then small cut beef (crown meat). In addition to the strips of green chili it is served on a wheat tortilla. Today, besides cattle, pigs or chickens and even shrimps are used. The supplements usually contain acid cream, guacamole, salsa, pico de gallo, cheese and tomatoes. The dish was previously prepared by cowboys because the dry muscle was released to them as “bad recovery”. In restaurants with Tex Mex cuisine, today the dish is often served on a hot cast iron plate together with peppers and onions (so it is on Wikipedia and also on the homepage . Bread and yogurt paste were served on tastings. It was soft wheat loaded pieces. The paste had a light acid note. We don't have salt either. Also the filling could not compensate for a certain dryness of the chicken piece. On request, the sauce was placed separately in a suitable vessel. The taste was rather unclear sweet. inserted mushroom pieces were abundant in it. The spicy sauce of chopped tomatoes, onions and chili pods was tasty, but did not make the dish more delicious. The pommes had a very good shape and thickness – but unfortunately they were not crispy outside, but by aroma and softness. The mixed salad consisted of fresh ingredients, but the dressage apparently consisted only of a vinegar sauce. In feed seeds FAJITAS ESPECIALIDAD DE MEXICO SERVIERT IN SCHMIEDEEISERNER PFANNE, WHICHMEHLTORTILLAS FOR SELBERFÜLEN WITH GUACAMOLE, SAUERRAHM, PICO DE GALLSTO, KÄSE, BOHNEN AND REIS FAJITA MIXTA The approach was appealing. In the pan were the roasted meat pieces and the steamed onion and pepper pieces. On a plate were the tortillas, black beans and rice. In four shelves were guacamole, sour cream, vegetable sauce and rasp cheese. Plates with beans, rice and bread I could see that the meat was marinated. But the sauce brought only a weak wort to beef and poultry. The meat was unfortunately also dry, but relatively soft; that became more than clear to me when chewing. The vegetables were relatively soft, but not yet soaked. The thin spots tasted like corn. The rice was not further flavoured, but cooked properly. The black beans, on the other hand, were mostly mild and soft in my mouth. The cheese from the bowl tasted very well in the mix with the avocado dip. The vegetables of the Pico de Gallo or Salsa tasted pleasantly and brought some of the sharpness I expected. The sour cream sauce reminded me of yogurt. Dips and supplements The portions were sufficiently large and could thus fill the stomach or spread hunger. We have not experienced any new flavor combinations. Everything was solid and fresh, but for us a bit boring in total impression. Drinks Mineral water (Selters – 0,75 l – 5,90 € Result 2 3: For us not suitable as a dining room for a repetition. The cocktail offer will be tried in the late afternoon or early evening to say something about the bar qualities and drinks. But we're waiting for it to come out.
