"Really great old style pub. Fab range of beers and a good vibe. Only let down by fag ends everywhere outside, full wet ashtrays etc. It really needs the team to clean up morning and night to make the place look welcoming."

"This place never looses its appeal even though social distancing and a reduced menu has been put on place. Had a massive turkey and brie sandwich with salad, slaw and crisps had to take half of it home!"

"I visited with my family in August as we were in Sheffield visiting relatives. We usually go all the time to Gloucestershire Five Guys and the food and service is excellent. We ordered food and there was a major delay in it arriving, when it...did arrive my wife and kids took it to the table and i waited for milkshakes for the kids. After two prompts and nearly 20 minutes later milkshakes arrived. I went to join my family, the food orders were wrong my daughter ordered a hamburger with ketchup and got cheeseburger no ketchup, and i ordered a bunless bacon cheeseburger got no bacon. I complained and asked for follow up over email. I was then out to lunch the following day and got a phone call while i was eating lunch to ask about the complaint. They said if we were local they would have invited us for a complimentary meal, but as we weren't they couldnt make up for the problems with the order. They couldnt send vouchers because of covid. I asked about electronic vouchers we could use in Gloucestershire and he said he would have to check with the district manager. I have heard nothing in a month since then. Before this experience we got to a point where we were visiting every week and spending £150 a month on five guys, but haven't visited again since, it has been a disappointing experience with the brand."

"We used to be regulars here until We moved years ago. After lockdown etc, we went back to Derby to visit friends and returned here for coffee and cake. The staff are still excellent and the cakes are still amazing. Can't wait to visit again. Just a pity we are now hours away !"

"I’m not from Derbyshire, but visit the Amber Valley corner of the county regularly, and this little spot in Ripley frequently pops up in conversations about good places to grab a bite to eat. So I visited for the first time recently, and was very impressed with the great variety of options that were available, the standard and quality of the food I ordered, the level of service, and the cleanliness of the little cafe. For the uninitiated, the word ‘cob’ refers to a bread roll. All around the U.K., and certainly in the East Midlands, you'll often hear a bread roll being called a cob. Locals claim it's the original word to describe the bread roll. It can be soft or crusty, white or brown. And it’s the huge variety of cobs that The Cob Stop does well! You’ll be spoiled for choice, as the menu board indicates. But there’s also sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes and salad boxes, and the welcoming option to ask, if your choice is not displayed. There’s also a delectable selection of cakes, slices and little tarts to complement your cob. I ordered a hot roast beef cob, with onions, as a few people had recommended it. The cob was large, fresh and soft. The filling was very generous, hot, and also very fresh. It was freshly prepared, and it came wrapped in foil to retain the heat. It was delicious. At £2.95 it was excellent value. I also ordered a custard tart, which was delicious. Locals I know sing the praises of this spot. I join that chorus. It’s take-out only, and COVID19 secure in line with current government guidelines. There’s also a wide selection of hot and cold drinks available, as well as the likes of sweets, chocolates and crisps. It’s on Ripley’s High Street, opposite the town’s market place. I was on foot so not sure of the parking situation right by the outlet. There are certainly designated car parks within walking distance."

"I had heard about this little gem, so decided to visit, my goodness what a lovely place to be, perfect setting for a little snack and a break whilst out enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Shipley Country Park, very courteous staff and excellent food, being as it’s a twenty minute walk for m, I will be visiting again very soon!, you won’t be disappointed"
