"Dropped into Grantham hungry on a Sunday morning on a long drive up the A1, and couldn 't find anywhere open then slammed on the brakes driving past COSY ORNER CAFE (they may have lost a C somewhere) which didn 't look up to much, but had an Open sign in the window. The decor is, well 1950s boarding house parlour might be the nice way to put it not exactly appealing, but unpretentious and yes, in its own way cosy. Tables and chairs are solid and uncrowded. A few other customers in already, who looked up, but didn 't start muttering or staring. The waitress who emerged from some other room arrived quickly and was bright and friendly: so far, so good. To be honest, we had mainly called in to use the toilets and get a cup of tea, but it felt worth taking a gamble on the food. The gamble paid off. I ordered a full English (reasonably priced at about £6 including extra toast) noted that the menu (which is all solid traditional British fare) specifically invites customers to request any substitutions that they wish and the cafe will try to accommodate 2 bacon, 2 sausage, fried egg, beans, mushrooms, fried bread. My wife wasn 't going to eat but saw a fellow customer being served a roast dinner (at 10.30am) and decided to go for that several large slices of roast beef (nicely browned, none of yer fancy continental pink), roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding, carrots and leek £6. We shared an enormous pot of tea (later topped up with hot water on request). So what? Well, the reason I am bothering to enter this cafe 's details on Tripadvisor and write this review is that this was, without exaggeration, one of the best meals I have ever eaten out of the house. The food is absolutely first rate top ingredients, well cooked and presented, served with genuine hospitality. This appears to be a family run business, reflected in the quality of food and service. Next time I am driving down the A1 I will definitely be turning off at Grantham."

"After my nine-month visit I ordered a scones and tee. I thought it was a nice place to take my son, but after the dame came to say I couldn't bring my own food for my baby. it was a rice cake and bio-crispen. after the explanation there was no baby food for my young on the menu, she said if she did it for me, she would have to do it for everyone. when the lady cleaned the table, she took my tee I wasn't finished with. is not visited again and would not recommend other families. other better places to visit in the opposite."

"Now known as the istanbul grill, went to lunch and had the club sandwich. eating was super, fresh and a big part, and all at a fair price. the service was friendly and fast and I would recommend giving at least this place an attempt."

"Dropped into the Bull Swan for a couple of drinks while staying nearby. The bar is fully stocked, offers local cask ales and gins while the beer garden is actually a kitchen garden where they have innovatively set up tables in the garden. This...then uses the flower borders as the seats for the table. Spent a lovely hours enjoying the sunshine."

"Birthday dinner for my friend was great. we had to wait for one because many people tried to use the food to help you get good. there was of us, from ethnic origin and English. we felt no discrimination, and we were even made to feel very welcome. the person who served us was so accentuating. the food was great, definitely for more."

"Our first visit, and definitely not our last! I had Henry VIII, poached eggs, chorizo, avocado hollandaise sauce on a muffin. It was superb, full of flavour. My husband had the Queens breakfast. We had a cup of Americano each, which had an excellent...flavour. Excellent service, really pleasant and welcoming staff. Thanks so much to everyone, we will be back"

"Although very local it is a small because since my last visit in the george, stamford. today I visited with a friend to lunch and had an extraordinary experience. the personal of waiting reception staff and in general were so friendly and accommodating. the lunch was served. the right pace and the eating delicious. I can't thank the george enough for such a beautiful afternoon. soon for a afternoon tea that looked delicious."
