"My wife and I celebrated Mother's Day dinner at Kanela. We arrived early so we can have dinner before the show. We had to choose 2 tapas out of 6 choices. The Chorizo was tasty and the gambas (prawns) was still sizzling when it was serve ed and it was delish. Our mains was their famous "paella" it was served on a big pan with lots of prawns, mussels, bits of fish and calamaris. Its was a suer dish except the rice was a not cooked well, but overall the food was nice and tasty, and the staff were very attentive and helpful... the Flamenco dance is really "awesome" and "inspiring". Good value indeed, and i would highly recommend this if you want something different and special for your "special"one."

"Loved this place, the food was all very well done, I was impressed by the vibrant fresh flavours each dish delivered. We ate a few different things, all of which impressed us. The fish tacos and Alambre De Res were particularly nice! The decor was bright and colourful which was great, added a touch of authenticity. 100% would recommend, and definitely will be back!"

"I was so disappointed. I had eaten some wonderful drinks here and had decided to keep my birthday party of 60 people on the back in the beautiful garden. I planned this with the owners months in advance. it should. the wonderful food we had tried before and have a filled manned bar. I arrived 10 minutes early, just to say that the room was not ready from a afternoon party. I had people from all of Australia 40 minutes later, after my party arrived, we came in the front bar. we were full of drinks before we went out of the way. the outside had no alcohol or no personal. we waited 2 hours before a meal arrived and what came was a shame. we had no order. sloppy calamari, cheese that I didn't even order. it was as if everything had been brought into the refrigerator and placed on tablets. most of my friends have nothing to eat. the bar was not yet manned or camped and the people had to go to the front bar for drinking. when the weinkists finally arrived at 9.30 a.m., a person from my party had to serve it, as there was no personal. I was terribly upset when it was a special birthday and the owner had promised so much for $3000. 3 of my adult children ran at the front and back bar and one went to the kitchen to cook. he had to eat from the super market and make pizza. you would expect everything I ordered to be in the refrigerator, but there was nothing. I don't know what happened to this day, and I have now refused to pay anything but drinks. we wanted to make the best of it, but it was a catastrophe. in any case they have a drink there and order something to eat, it was always good for it, but please don't keep her function there."

"It had been a long time since I’d eaten here. There was a time when I was here every weekend. On this visit I ordered the large vegan nachos 18.50 $1 to veganise) for a late lunch. There are cafes in Melbourne with more ‘gourmet’ nachos, but I really think Trippy’s are like a benchmark for good vegan nachos: tasty, substantial and not omitting any ingredients (such as cheese or sour cream) to veganise. I have an inkling the serving sizes are bigger in Fitzroy than in St Kilda, and I was pushing it to finish the large ones by myself."
