"The food tasted good enough nothing groundbreaking, and I eat and cook a lot of Japanese food, but the actual dealbreaker was the service. we waited one hour, a whole hour, between the first and second cure of our o-makase menu. no explanation, no excuse. Given the very high price of food, this was obviously unacceptable."

"Lovely outlook and comfy chairs. Good drink service and tables clean Commenced with scallops in a nice sauce but needed to be balanced salt sugar. Oysters were beautiful big plump quality, however the topping was very sharp acidic. Raw king fish was beautiful all of...it. The chicken liver parfait is the nicest I've ever had. The crisp seeded lavish typebread is delicious. Served with prunes but again a sharp acidic juice needed balancing. Pork belly plentiful but poorly cooked dry base and soft crackling. Terrible coleslaw which is actually a nasty flavored vinegar?? Fish well cooked plentiful. Big meaty mushrooms didn't seem to match the delicate fish. Dessert chocolate mousse cream on chocolate crumb with raspberries was very nice. The sour dough bread is served with a type of butter whip...yuk it's like cheap margarine. I suggest to order off the menu and not go for the chef choices."

"I'm a regular for one thing - prawn inari. This is the only place that I have seen it and I just love the combination - it goes so well together. My daughter is also a big fan. The range is limited but the quality is pretty good, if not up to Japan standards. The service is alway good and the price reasonable (but not by Sydney or Melbourne standards!)."

"Great unassuming Japanese cafe and eatery in Sandy Bay serving great Japanese dishes. 25min walk from Salamanca Area. We ordered Kaarage chicken in Lotus Bun, Teriyaki Chicken was tender and delicious, Gyoza Dumplings yum. Extensive menu Gyoza Dumplings (Pork or Chicken), Kaarage Chicken with Japanese mayonnaise, Teriyaki Chicken skewers, Katsu (Chicken or Pork), Seafood full sushi options, tempura, Ramen options, Rice and Noodle dishes, Spring rolls, Sets Bento Box, Sushi Box. Asahi on tap and bottled! Fully licensed (beer and wine) plus fruit juices, soft drinks etc. We stayed about 2 hours, but most people just pop in, eat and leave. It’s not a fine dining restaurant more like a cafe, a bit bright, and it’s about eating. Fabulous food and beer on tap! Friendly staff. Open daily 11.30am to 9pm. Kitchen (and restaurant) close at 9pm."
