"Not just the best sushi, but also the only one with so many vegan options! My husband and I tried a few dishes, but the favorites were definitely the gyoza, katsu chicken roll and the cooked tuna one. All vegan of course! The Xalmon was unbelievable too! Especially on the nigiri"

"This is a lovely little gem in Perth. Japanese is one of my favourite cuisine and this place is definitely a keeper on my list. I wouldn't say the food here is 100% authentic in terms of flavour but they are quite pleasing to eat and menu items not overly priced like most proper Japanese restaurants. Could definitely be more generous on the wasabi given with their dishes though. Staff were friendly, however, it would have been even better if they were more attentive to table service. We had to wait for quite sometime and with multiple attempts just to try to get attention of the staff. Friendly farewell when we paid the bill which was a lovely finish to our dinning experience."

"$3 per dish is cheap, considerably more so than other places, but the standard does lack slightly. Sashimi was generally fresh, especially the scallop, but the rice was slightly hard and bland. Slicing technique was sub-par, but it depends how much importance you place on that. <br><br><a href="https://www.zomato.com/spoonback?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dumplinglove.wordpress.com&amp;r=30134835&amp;to=24845381&amp;k=eb556d5777e2756819bcb72b2d6a8071" target="_blank"><span class="left red-text">dumplinglove.wordpress.com</span><span class="grey-text left ml5" data-icon="ŧ"></span></a>"

"My wife and I had been meaning to go to Dainty Dowager for some time off the back of a couple of recommendations. So when we had a show to see at the nearby Astor Theatre we thought this would be a perfect time to go for dinner and drinks before the show. We arrived at around 6.15pm to a near empty restaurant, although it did get busier later. We ordered a bottle of mediocre Rose that was actually the highlight of the meal. The food come out and I was pretty shocked at the quality and quantity for the prices. First up was 2 Bao buns with fried chicken. These were the premade frozen kind, not freshly made, combined with a measly piece of fried chicken that lacked spice, for $11. Next up was salt and pepper squid, out come five small pieces of squid, it was the store bought pre-crumbed frozen type, perched on a basic coleslaw for $18. I was shocked that a restaurant would serve this, such disrespect for their customers. After this came the soft shell crab, firstly almost all soft shell crab in Australia arrives imported and frozen so no issues there, but it comes whole and needs careful trimming to remove some of the inner parts like the gill rakers etc. These had simply been cut in half, leaving all the parts that are usually discarded. it was served in a measly quantity next to a very basic and limp green papaya salad. I had in visioned a bright crisp and tart salad similar to Som Tum but this was nothing like that. Last dish was the Dragons Beard noodles, for $26, this was the biggest disappointment of the night. The dish was incredibly oily with basically dressed noodles, with some pork mince and some mustard greens. It was inedible, I got through one mouthful. We paid quickly and went to leave, I didn't plan to complain, but the waiter notice that we left a decent amount of the food, I gave him a quick rundown and he decided to take off the price of the squid, that was the only positive. Thoroughly disappointing all in all. The are plenty of good eateries in the area, choose one of them instead."

"Love the steak tartare. Nice casual, relaxed dining. Not pretentious. Always a good place to go to when we're stuck for ideas to catch up with friends."
