"I 'm struggling to leave a bad review because the waiter was so sweet. But I am a big believer that bad food shouldn 't exist, so have to leave one out of principle. If they reduced the cost by 50% then they would be in the correct pricing bracket for their quality. Basically, a cheap cafe, in which case I 'd have given them an extra star. But they are charging restaurant prices, so I have to review them as one. I 'll start by saying this place is nothing close to French. Don 't let the name fool you. They serve a few French dishes along with plenty of American, English, Italian, Mexican and Indian. This is always a red flag. Anyway, the starter was a French Onion soup which tasted 'fine '. It was served with a supermarket french stick but whatever. I mean, at least oven the bread for a few minutes first. TRY to be decent. The mains was where it went severely downhill. I had steak (credit where its due, it was cooked to a perfect medium rare) which was served with Roast potatoes, veg and a mushroom sauce. It all needed to be heavily seasoned with salt and pepper whilst on our plate. I would put money on the fact that the roast potatoes were Aunt Bessie... what with their seamless golden monotone colour all over each one like they were designed in a factory. Not crisp at all, just gold. The insides were flavourless. Seriously guys, just buy real potatoes.. they are cheap. The veg was all falsely electric in color exactly like frozen veg is and with no flavour. My girlfriend had Louisiana Chicken. Yes.. the American state of Louisiana. This was blatantly Uncle Bens. Which i know because of the slightly oversized nature of each rice grain and the consistent shape of each one. Coupled with the fact there was absolutely no flavour. There was also only a few pieces of chicken, which I know companies like uncle bens do to save on cost. It 's an insult that we spent over ten pounds on something that costs about £1 in Tescos. Not to mention we don 't eat that kind of rubbish, I have too much respect for my body, so feel tricked. Either way, I 've eaten everywhere in Taunton over the short time of living here, this was the last place on the list that I kept delaying for one reason or another, but thought I 'd try it to know if I was missing out... I wasn 't and I won 't be going back."
