"The Restaurant Baeren has been a long term fixture of dining in West Freiburg and we've eaten here multiple times in the or so years we have been coming here. Over that time the decor has been gradually updated, although retaining its traditional black...forrest' feel, but the food has remained constant. They serve a range of local foods, with a mix of meat and fish dishes (as with many German restaurants vegetarians are not especially well catered for), the food is well cooked and generously portioned. Service is friendly and rapid."

"From walking in to walking out felt very uncomfortable, dare i say it , being english didnt help either. Food was nice , stares and sniggers not. Price okay. Spent three days in freiburg very positive and enjoyable this was the opposite. They made my wife and kids feel uncomfortable and my wife didnt finish her drink because she wanted to leave. Freiburg is a stunning place with friendly people but what a stain on the landscape this is. Enjoy your stay in germany he said on the way out with a smirk!!. We will and have done but clowns are clowns regardless of nationality. Danke."

"Wir wurden sehr freundlich vom Besitzer empfangen, der mit jedem seiner Gäste sehr freundschaftlich umgegangen ist. Wir haben uns beide für den den gemischten Teller entschieden und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Er war voll mit Lammfleisch, Reis, Kartoffelsalat, Gemüse und weiteren Leckereien. Die Knoblauchsoße war nicht zu stark und der Schärfegrad wurde an unsere Wünsche angepasst.Wir sind beide sehr satt geworden und wurden nicht enttäuscht."

"Locale caratteristico adiacente la porta Schawebentor a due passi dal centro. Personale molto cordiale. Menù disponibile anche in lingua italiana. Carne sublime...dal manzo al maiale...cucinata in modo spettacolare. Ottimi anche gli spaetzli. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Provatelo!!!"

"We live close by and always wanted to try it out. Well, we did and we're not coming back unless in case of emergency. Waitress absolutely absent-minded, food overly oily (so greasy even my grandpa - who pours oil on butter to make it less dry - wouldn't eat it). The meat did not taste exactly fresh either. And as a last nail in the coffin, both our dishes were served with the tip "wrap in a leaf of lettuce and dip in the chili water (um...I mean sauce)." Maybe that's the traditional way, but I did not find the appeal in that. It only resulted in the ground meat falling all out and my fingers and hands being completely greased up."
