"I'm an American living in Hamburg, and I've had trouble finding good Mexican/TexMex food in Germany. I was in Cologne for Photokina, and decided to check this out with my husband. We'd learned to be pretty suspicious of Mexican food here, but Cantina Mexicana was excellent. We started out with drinks (their menu included cocktails like margaritas and mojitos, with a happy hour from 6pm to 1am) and a chips and dip trio appetizer. The Chipotle salsa wasn't exactly what we expected, closer to a dipping sauce than what salsa usually is, but still good. There were only two vegetarian options on the dinner menu, although many of the appetizers were veggie friendly, too. I got one of those, the pequeño enchilada, which even being the smaller option was too much food for me. It came served with beans and rice, and was delicious and a little bit messy to eat, just like Mexican should be. The restaurant is a little bit out of the way from Central Cologne. To get there from Hauptbahhof, the Central Station, take either the 16 or the 18 line to Neumarkt, then the 9 tram line to Weyertal, which it's very close to."

"We had a very nice meal at Apadana in Cologne - A good selection of appetizers and kabobs at very reasonable prices, in a well-decorated setting. There were some weird touches, like Thai chili sauce for consumption with traditional Persian fare - but otherwise great service and solid food."

"I eat every time I shop in downtown. Here the Pommes taste as good as nowhere in Cologne. Above all, I recommend that you order the part of the pommes with a hairdryer and also order the delicious Joppi sauce. It makes it much more delicious than it is. It also works very clean and fast."

"We were looking for a place to have lunch on a sunny day and it was hard to find something in the area. We ended up here and from the outside it looked ok. One can only order the food that’s depicted on the wall...behind the bar counter. After ordering it is cooked by chef visible to the customers. Oh my god! Washing hands, no! Eating from dishes and salads with hands, yes! My salmon supposed to be grilled, but it was baked at the plate as the pommes and other meat. Using the same butter. Unbelievable!!! The salads were unfresh and made yesterday! My daughter had ordered a schnitzel she nor we as parents could cut, because it was baked for the second time it felt and was black from the inside. And so on, and so on! Cheap, but I wouldn’t even dare to go in anymore as I have never had an experience that was as worse as this one. Gordon Ramsey cannot even turn this one around "

"I ate here with my partner on a Wednesday evening as we were looking for a nice, easy, reasonably priced meal after a day of walking around Cologne. We reserved a table online but never got a confirmation. Despite that were seated immediately. Our menus...were in english (we don't speak german) and staff's english was good. Food was great, hot and service extremely quick no complaints there. We had a two starters, a large pizza and a bottle of wine between us and our bill was just under which is a bargain. With regards to the toilet being paid, I am not sure if this is the case and I certainly didn't pay. However there is a woman sat in front of the toilets kind of like what you see in some nightclubs. Of course the idea is that you feel the need to pay her but I didn't bring my purse with me so I walked straight past her and had no issues. The women's toilets smelt really bad like they hadn't been cleaned properly and the first toilet I went into had 'left overs still in it... not very good. However my partner used the men's and said it was very clean."

"An outstanding seafood restaurant. Started with halfdozen oysters which were delightful with a lovely vinaigrette sauce. Followed with a whole Dover sole which was prepared perfectly and served with boiled potatoes and sauteed spinach. Only one criticismthe sole came on a plate and was not...filleted. Sole is not difficult to fillet but it is difficult to manage on a dinner plate. No additional plate for the bone was provided. Also, at a restaurant of this caliber, it should have been filleted by the waitstaff. Also, be awareAmerican Express is NOT accepted"
